About Japan Foundation HANDs! Exchange Programme for Young Asian Leaders
- Japan Foundation HANDs! Exchange Programme for Young Asian Leaders is a biannual exchange programme for young Asian leaders to learn best practices in tackling disaster education, preparedness and post-disaster recovery
- The whole program in HANDs! Project is fully funded by The Japan Foundation, Asia Center. HANDs have been launched with a motive to create access to disaster-related programmes for those who are not aware but are concerned members of society.
- Not only this but also they want to teach the disaster education in an enjoyable way so that it becomes the memorable experience for the younger generation.
- Last date to apply is July 17, 2016
- Selected candidates will get a chance to join study tours in Indonesia and Philippines as well as Thailand and Japan to observe past and ongoing creative efforts by local organisations.

Japan Foundation HANDs! Exchange Programme for Young Asian Leaders Reward
First Trip
- The selected candidates during the first year i.e. 2016 will have an opportunity to be a part of the Study Tour of 20 days to Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Japan.
- In each country they will learn about disaster education
- The first trip, is scheduled in late September to early October 2015
Second trip
- The second trip is scheduled to visit Thailand and Japan in February 2017
- For the second Trip the selected candidates are will have to propose a new project on disaster education to the Japan Foundation Asia Center.
At the end of the study tours, participants will develop project proposals for review by the Japan Foundation Asia Center. If approved, they will be given seed funding to implement the plans.

For young professional applicants:
Candidates have to download the Application Form

- Two samples of recent works in English
For university student applicants
Candidates have to download the Application Form from the official website.

- Any additional material related to disaster-related activities
Submission of the Application Form
The duly filled in Application Form along with all other attachments has to be sent to HANDs! Project Committee at hands@jpf.or.id before July 17, 2016.
The subject Line of the Email should be: “HANDs – Young Professional / University Student - Applicant’s Name”

The Japan Foundation (JF) was founded in 1972 as a legal entity which aims to promote cultural exchange activities between Japan and other countries in the world.
