About Charpak Masters Scholarship
Charpak Scholarship 2020 for Master's Program is organised by the Embassy of France in India in memory of Georges Charpak who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1992. The scholarship is awarded for one or two years and covers the tuition fees and other expenses of the scholar. The online application process for Charpak Scholarship for Master's Program has started from 3 February 2020. The Candidate can fill the application form by 17 April 2020. The Charpak scholarship program provides funding for three types of Programs:
- Master’s Program
- Research Program
- Exchange Program
The Charpak scholarship offers two types of scholarship based on merit:
- Charpak AME Scholarship (Allocation Mensuelle d’Entretien)
- Charpak Travel Grant
Master's Scholarship is offered for one or two years to Indian students who want to pursue a full-time Masters course in France. A student from any academic background can apply for this scholarship.

- The Charpak Scholarship 2020 Results will be announced in mid May.

Not Eligible for Charpak ScholarshipStudents who are already pursuing Master's studies in France are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship can only be given to those students who have not started with their studies in France but have got an offer letter for the same. |
Charpak Masters Scholarship Reward
The students do not have to submit separate scholarship applications for the below-mentioned scholarship application
Benefits under Charpak AME Scholarship
The scholarship will cover expenses for studies in France only and if the student undergoes studies for any semester outside France then the scholarship will not be valid for that period. The candidates who are selected for the Charpak Scholarship 2020 will get the following benefits:
- Student Visa Fee Waiver: The scholars will get a waiver on the fees to be paid for student visa up to approximately Rs 16,500.
- Tuition fee waiver upto 5000 euros
- Living Allowance: The scholars will get a monthly stipend of 700 euros for a period of 10 months per annum. Students can reapply for the stipend in the second year.
- Students will also get assistance in searching for suitable accommodation.
Note: Full tuition fee waiver at public universities or partial tuition fee waivers by other institutions, can be granted according to their individual policies.

The scholarship does not cover living allowance, tuition fee waiver or assistance with finding accommodation under Travel Grant
Charpak Masters Scholarship will not cover the Following Expenses
The scholarship will NOT cover the expenses if one semester or more of the course is carried out in another country.
- However, exceptions can be made for scholars who have completed the first year of their Master’s program in France.
Charpak Master's Scholarship Renewal
The scholarship will NOT be renewed automatically. The students have to reapply for second-year funding in France. The application for renewal will be accepted on the basis of academic performance of the candidates in the first year of the Master’s program and a new statement of purpose.

Steps to Fill the Charpak Scholarship form
STEP 1: Register Here: Candidate has to follow the above link and register them first by inputting the basic details along with Aadhar/PAN/Passport/Voter Id details.
STEP 2: Fill the Application Form: Candidate can now log in multiple times and fill the application form and upload the documents.
STEP 3: Submit: Candidate has to save or submit your application. If a candidate is not able to complete the application, he/she may click save and return later to finish your application
Note: Candidate must pen down an original statement of purpose. Candidate response to each question for your statement of purpose should not exceed 250 words.
Documents to be uploaded online for Charpak Scholarship
- Passport size photograph
- Scanned copy of the first page of your passport (with photo and expiry date). If you will be getting your passport after the deadline, please attach passport application proof.
- Your full Curriculum Vitae (maximum 2 pages).
- Class 12 Marksheet / Passing Certificate
- University Marksheet and degree (Bachelor’s Degree and Mark Sheet and for those who are applying for M2, upload your M1 mark sheet as well)
- Scanned copy of your admission/acceptance letter from the French higher education institution/laboratory. If you have not received it before the deadline, attach an email correspondence to show that you are in the process of getting the acceptance letter from them. Please note that you have to approach a laboratory on your own, as per your research interest before applying for the scholarship.
- Attested (by a gazette officer or the Head of the institute where you studied/are studying) scanned copies of mark sheets of Higher Secondary School (Class 12), Bachelor's and Master's degrees (including those of completed semesters of the ongoing degree)
- French language certificate if any (DELF /DALF or from any recognized university or Class 10 mark sheet if French was your second language)
- Document of employment/internship record, if applicable
All the above documents must be in word, pdf or jpeg format (rtf, odt, txt, msg documents, zip folders or scans of social media are NOT acceptable).
Statement of Purpose for Masters Scholarship
Please note that your statement of purpose is the reflection of your own thoughts. It should explain why you chose the French institution to which you have applied or been admitted, as well as how would the exchange program add value in your further studies or in launching your career. Explain why you would be a worthy candidate for the scholarship. Your response to each question for your statement of purpose should not exceed 250 words.
Submission of Charpak Masters Scholarship Application form
Charpak Master's Application form can be filled and submit online only. Candidate need not send any documents to the institute. Candidates are informed that all the above documents must be in word, pdf or jpeg format.
Charpak Masters Scholarship Selection Process
Your application will be selected on the basis of your academic excellence, as well as the consistency and quality of your statement of purpose. There is no CGPA/percentage cut-off for the scholarship. Knowledge of French will be an asset but is not mandatory. A tie-up between your current Indian institution and your future French institution will also be an asset.
- The names of the selected candidates will be published on the official website of the Embassy of France in India tentatively in the third week of May 2020.
- Awardees of the scholarship will be contacted via email.
- Incomplete application forms will be rejected.
