About CGAP Photography Contest
CGAP Photo Contest is being organized by Consultative Group to Assist the Poor(CGAP) in association with World Bank giving a golden opportunity to capture the remarkable ways with which poor people are improving their lives with financial resources. Close to 2 billion people in the world do not have access to formal financial service and thus all the Govts. around the world are going for financial inclusion policies so that everybody is benefitted out of it. In the year 2016, CGAP Photo contest received more than 3,300 entries from photographers from 77 countries.
- There are a lot of changes in the present scenario. With the invasion of new technologies, such as digital financial services poor people are also benefitted.
- CGAP Photo Contest is celebrating its 11th year with the aim to demonstrate financial ways which can help poor people transition out of poverty and lead more financially secure lives and it invites original, striking images of the impact of microfinance and financial inclusion around the world.
- Themes for the Photography Contest: CGAP Photo Contest 2017 covers the below-mentioned themes:
- Mobile money and innovations in digital finance
- Women's economic empowerment
- Resilience
- Small businesses
- Each candidate can upload up to 20 photographs and entries may be entered by uploading digital files.Candidates can submit entries by midnight EST 29 September 2017. Voting for the People's Choice Award begins in the 1st week of September and ends in the last week of September 2017.
- The winning photos can be displayed on CGAP's website and in exhibitions to be held at World Bank in Washington, D.C., and other valuable events.
- Winning images also may be used in a slideshow, on social media, in CGAP publications, or in CGAP offices.

CGAP Photography Contest Reward
- The below-mentioned prizes will be given to the winners. Winners will be notified by e-mail.If any winner fails to claim their prize within 60 days of being notified, that winner may forfeit his or her prize.
- Any federal, state and local taxes, fees, and surcharges on prizes should be borne by the prize winner.

CGAP Photo Contest 2017 Regional Winners
From each region, one winner will be selected on the basis of the country in which the photo was taken. The selected candidates will be given a US$200 gift certificate for photography equipment

CGAP Photo Contest 2017 Special Reward
Four winners will be chosen on the basis of the below-mentioned categories and will be awarded US$200 gift certificate for photography equipment

- How women around the world are participating in the economy and changing their lives.
- What resilience looks like.
- What financial inclusion means for small businesses and low-income entrepreneurs.
CGAP Photo Contest 2017 Consolation Prizes
5-8 other winners will also be selected and will be awarded US$100 gift certificate for photography equipment and accessories.

Details about the Image
- The image should be original, striking depicting the impact of microfinance and financial inclusion around the world.
- The image to be uploaded should clearly reflect a range of products and services, institutions, and methodologies. It should also possess a touch of a broad range of social, economic, developmental and technological issues.
- The image can be clicked in either of the two regions-Rural or Urban
Points to keep in Mind for Entries
- The contestant has to upload the Original Work.
- Make sure that it does not Non-infringe the rights of others
- Respectful of the rights, sensitivities, and culture of persons depicted
- An accurate reflection of the subject matter and scene as it appeared, without alteration
Technical Details
- Type of Image: Candidates can either upload Digital images or scans of prints
- Original files of camera-made digital photos should be uploaded.
- Each candidate can upload up to 20 photographs.
- Size: The digital photos should not exceed 5 megabytes (5 MB)
CGAP Photography Contest Selection Process
- The selection of the Entries will be done by a panel of Judges
- Judges will include professional photographers and photo editors
- People Choice Winner will be selected on the basis of No. of Votes received. Voting Lines open in the 2nd week of September 2017 and closes in the last week of September 2017.
- Winners will be notified by their email IDs.
CGAP Photo Contest Winning Entries
- All entries can be used by CGAP in printed publications, on any CGAP web asset, in a slideshow or in any other media and can also be copied and displayed in any country, provided that all uses are accompanied by appropriate attribution to the photographer.
- Candidates retain ownership and all other rights to future use of their photographs.
- The winning photos can be displayed on CGAP's and in exhibitions to be held at World Bank in Washington, D.C., and other prestigious venues.
- Winning images also may be used in a slideshow, on social media, in CGAP publications, or in CGAP offices.
CGAP Photo Contest 2017 Judging Process
- Judges will select the entry on the basis of originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit.
- The story behind the photo may also play a vital role in the judges' decisions
- Decisions made by the judges are final and abiding.
