NTA NEET 2019 Latest Announcement
Earlier, the MHRD held a press conference where the National Testing Agency was formally introduced. Also, the ministry confirmed that NEET 2019 will be held in a computer based mode, twice a year in multiple sittings (8 sessions approx.) However, a hint was given by Prakash Javadekar, HRD Minister, that the test will be held in offline mode.
Now, as per the latest press release, the latest developments in NEET 2019 are –
- National Eligibility cum Entrance Test will be held in a pen-paper based
- Instead of conducting the test in multiple sessions, the test will be held in a single session
- On the request of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the NEET exam pattern will remain the same as that of the last year
- The NEET question paper will be available in 11 different languages i.e. same as that of last year
Why NTA NEET 2019 will remain the same?
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was not happy regarding the earlier press conference of NTA by MHRD on 7 June 2018. Also, in the MHRD press conference, it was announced that the questions will be different for each student. Thus, it is a mammoth task for the Medical Council of India and Dental Council of India to prepare such large question banks.
As per the recommendations sent out to MHRD from Health Ministry regarding the conduct of NEET are –
- Most students from rural areas will not be comfortable or won’t be able to adapt to the computer based entrance test
- Conducting NEET twice a year will increase pressure on logistical and counselling duties
- Also, unnecessary pressure will be built on students if exams are conducted twice a year
Since the National Testing Agency will be conducting NEET for the first time, therefore CBSE, the previously conducting body will be asked to assist in conducting the test.
