MHRD to release Kendriya Vidyalayas ranking in June 2018 over 1000 schools across the country will be inspected for the rankings. This is the first time that an official ranking is introduced for schools. Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) is starting the ranking process with the main aim to create an atmosphere of competition among the Kendriya Vidyalayas.

  • These institutes will be assessed and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), an autonomous body funded by the University Grants Commission.
  • The inspection of these schools will be done twice, just to be sure and remove any discrepancy as this result will be very important for these schools and ratio of further year admissions will also depend on it.

Special KV like schools will be established for minorities and tribals

Kendriya Vidyalayas are a system of central government schools in India. This system started in the year 1963 under the name “Central Schools” and they were instituted under the aegis of the Ministry of Human Resource and Development. It is the largest chain of schools having a total of 1094 schools. All the schools are affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

  • There was a discussion regarding the establishment of KV like schools at a recent meeting of NCERT general council which was attended by MHRD. The agenda is to establish such schools for minorities and tribals on the lines of Kendriya Vidyalaya and Navoday Vidyalaya.
  • These schools will run by the Central Government on KV Model and it will follow the NCERT syllabus like other government schools. The National Council of Educational Research and Training will soon start working on this agenda
