GUJCET to Replace JEE Mains for Engineering admission in Gujarat from 2017
GUJCET to replace JEE Mains for engineering admission in Gujarat. The Gujrat Government have decided to grant engineering and pharmacy admission from the academic year 2017 through ACPC in its Government, Grant in aid and Self-finance institutes through GUJCET. Till last year Degree Engineering & Degree/Diploma Pharmacy admissions in Gujarat were done on the basis of JEE Main.
As per the resolution published by the State Government of Gujarat dated November 19, 2016, following are the important provisions in this regard:
- According to this resolution, the merit list will be created on the basis of GUJCET examination result for admission in Engineering & Pharmacy Degree/ Diploma after 12th Science.
- Grant in aid and self-finance institutes in the state for Government quota Seats and Management Quota seats from the academic year 2017 onwards.
However, 50% seats to be filled under the All India basis as stated in above special provision to certain Institutes/ Universities, will be filled on the basis of JEE Main 2017.
- Those candidates who are aspiring to get admission in centrally funded institutes such as IITs, NITs, IIITs and other such institutes of other states, will also have to appear for JEE Main examination.
- In the case of Special provisions in certain Institutes/Universities as per prevailing notification of filling 50% seats by this committee in Engineering Degree .
Preparing Merit List Engineering & Pharmacy Degree/diploma Admissions
The provisions for preparing merit list to get admission in Engineering & Pharmacy Degree/Diploma after 12th Science from the academic year 2017 are mentioned below:
- For admission to Degree Engineering and Degree/Diploma Pharmacy, the merit list will be prepared based on
- 60% weightage of percentile marks obtained in theory subjects of XII Science opted group subjects (A or B or AB).
- 40 % weightage of percentile marks obtained in State level GUJCET examination.
- Similarly, the admission for the year 2017 shall be granted on the basis of merit list prepared by taking into account 60% weightage of percentile marks in theory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology of all four semesters examination of Std. XI and Std XII Science conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board in March 2017 and 40% weightage of percentile marks of GUJCET examination in the corresponding year.
However, from March 2018 onwards admission shall be granted on the basis of merit list prepared by taking into account 60% percentage weightage of percentile marks in theory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology of XII Science annual Examination conducted by Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board in March 2018 and onwards and 40% weightage of percentile marks of GUJCET examination of the corresponding year.
In case of other recognized boards: Boards other than Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board the admission from year 2017 onwards, admission shall be granted on the basis of merit list prepared by taking into account sixty percentage weightage of percentile marks in theory subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology of annual examination conducted by concerned recognized Board from March, 2017 onwards and 40% weightage of percentile marks of GUJCET examination in the corresponding year.
The candidates seeking admission in through ACPC in its Government, Grant in aid and Self-finance institutes must make sure to keep a check on admission related notification (rules) published from time to time.
