FYUP Scrapped, BMS Course Scrapped and B.Tech converted into B.Sc
Amid all the confusion and chaos between DU and UGC, a final decision has finally been announced. The Delhi University announced an official end to the FYUP and has readopted the three year undergraduate course.
Scrapping of BMS course and conversion of B.Tech course into B.Sc course
The announcements also included an element of disappointment, the BMS (Bachelor of Management Studies) course which was introduced last year with FYUP also stands scrapped and B.Tech coursewas converted into three year B.Sc. The entrance test taken for BMS course on June 26, 2014 will still be considered for admissions into BBS and B.A. Honours. According to the university guidelines, admissions into Bachelor in Business Studies course and B.A. Honours (Business Economics) course would take place on the basis of the criteria already announced for BMS admissions 2014-15.
Notification published on June 27, 2014
The university published a notification on June 27, 2014 stating that it will revert back to the guidelines followed by it in the academic year 2012-2013. The guidelines followed by the university in 2012-2013 for the calculation of score of the best four subjects will be applicable to the academic year 2014-2015. With the scrapping of FYUP, the colleges will be able to impose additional eligibility criteria for admission to various courses which was earlier scrapped with the introduction of FYUP.
Admission criteria for reserved categories
- The decentralization of admissions which came into effect with the introduction of FYUP will be applicable for the academic year 2014-2015 as well.
- Admission procedures followed for SC, ST and PwD categories will be carried out in the same manner as for General and OBC categories.
- But, there will be no additional eligibility criteria for students for SC, ST and OBC categories.
- The ‘non-creamy layer’ OBC certificates should be as per the Central Government Rules. SC/ST/OBC certificates shall be in the name of the student only.
- The guidelines followed by the university in 2012-2013 for the calculation of score of the best four subjects will be applicable to the academic year 2014-2015.
The following guidelines have been scrapped by the University:
- Change of stream would cost a student a loss of 2% from the marks of the best four subjects calculated
- Deduction of 10 marks from each vocational subject on including a maximum of three vocational subjects
- For a subject to be considered as an academic subject, it should include at least 70% of theory.
Another chance to register in DU- for those who missed to apply
The registrations that took place till June 16, 2014 shall stay valid. Students who are already registered with the university shall be eligible to take admissions according to the cut-offs. Students who have not got registered with the university will be able to fill in the university registration form along with the payment of the prescribed registration fees (Rs. 100 for General/ OBC and Rs. 50 for SC/ST/PwD) and the college admission form according to the cut-offs.
Undertaking by the Students
The respective colleges shall take an undertaking from the students during the admission process that the students are taking admission in an UG three year course in their full consciousness and according to their will.
The colleges shall display the cut offs on their respective websites on June 30, 2014 after 8.00 pm. The admissions shall commence from July 1, 2014 and end on July 30, 2014
