Revision in Free Coaching Scheme for SC and OBC Students
The Ministry of Social Justice has a new plan for the assistance of reserved categories(SC/ST/OBC).The government has decided to make the education in coaching institutes free for the meritorious students of the country by providing them with free and quality coaching. It’s been recommended that the students who belong to SC/ST or OBC and have their total family annual income (from all the sources) less than Rs 6 Lakh to avail the benefit under the scheme.Ministry of Social Justice has mandated it for the selected 28 coaching institutes of the country, The selection of the coaching institutes in all over the country is done on the basis of recommendation given by states, and UTs. And the government already identified five institutes who have an exemplary record.

"The selection was done by a committee headed by Special Secretary, Social Justice Ministry after the guidelines of the Scheme of Free Coaching for SC and OBC Students was revised in June this year." the official said.
The free coaching scheme will be reviewed by the Ministry of Social Justice at the end of the third year of empanelment based on the results of SC and OBC candidates in competitive exams.
Free Coaching will be given for these exams
The exams & courses which the coaching classes will be provided for Group A and B examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Officers Grade examinations conducted by Banks, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), insurance companies and public sector undertakings, various Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs).
The coaching will also cover for the courses like premier entrance examinations in Engineering (IIT-JEE and AIEEE), professional courses like management (CAT) Medical (NEET) and law (CLAT) and some other necessary tests like SAT, GRE, GMAT and TOEFL.
Revision in the Coaching Scheme
To provide free & quality coaching to the candidates belongs to SC, OBC community, the Central Sector Scheme for free Coaching for SC and OBC was revised by the Ministry of Social Justice. The free coaching scheme was planned to make SC and OBC students enable to appear in competitive exams and succeed in obtaining proper jobs in every field. Earlier, a committee under the ambit of the ministry was working for the process to select the eligible students.
The expenses of the coaching for the backward class students is to be covered by the Ministry itself for their competitive examination's coaching under the revised scheme.
"Earlier, the maximum ceiling of coaching fees paid to institution per candidate was Rs 20,000. Now we will fund the entire expenditure on coaching," the official said
There would be a review of the empanelled coaching institute at the end of the third year, and the basis of the review would be the result of SC and OBC candidates who are provided with the coaching under the Free Coaching Scheme.
