Central Sector Scholarship mandates Aadhaar for Registration and Renewal
Central Sector Scholarship mandate Aadhaar for registration and renewal. Aadhaar Card is now mandatory for the students who are availing the benefits of the Central Sector Scholarship for college and University students in India and for the new applicants as well. Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has made the announcement to maintain the uniqueness and authentication of the Scholarship Scheme by making the Aadhaar card compulsory for the shortlisted students. However, the students of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam and Meghalaya remain untouched with this rule.
The same rule was implemented recently for the candidates who are now appearing in the NEET 2017 Examination followed by JEE Mains, ICAR, MHT CET and UGC fellowships, and with the same roots, this decision has overtaken the Scholarship sector as well. Aadhaar card is a necessary document for Indian citizens, however, still some of the students have not yet enrolled for it. But as per the latest Notification by the MHRD, students must undergo Aadhaar enrollment as soon as possible. The students who are availing the Central Sector Scholarship and do not have an Aadhaar card must also get one before 30 June 2017.
Earlier, MHRD had made Aadhaar card compulsory for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme. Students from J&K, Assam and Meghalaya were exempted from this rule.
Benefits of Aadhaar Card to students
Aadhaar being mandatory for the citizens of India holds the unique identification factor of the individual. Earlier the applicants had to upload multiple documents to avail most of the scholarships and fellowships but now with implementation of Aadhaar card, disbursement process has become transparent and hassle-free.
Parents and students are advised to enrol for the Aadhaar card as soon as possible as it will be soon becoming the compulsory document in any field apart from education.
