SNAP 2016 analysis for the exam conducted on 18 December 2016 is provided on this page. Thousands of candidates appeared in SNAP Test and most of them found the test to be slightly difficult. The overall difficulty level of the test was much higher as compared to earlier SNAP tests. Moreover, this year the pattern of the SNAP question paper was moderately different from what the SNAP had been following since 2009.  On this page, we are going to discuss the detailed SNAP 2016 analysis.

SNAP 2016 Analysis - Subject Wise 


We are going to discuss the SNAP 2016 Analysis for each topic. The topics of the SNAP tests are General English, Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency, General Awareness and Analytical & Logical Reasoning. 

SNAP 2016 General English Analysis


The General English subject analysis for the different sections are given below. The analysis is done on the basis of the structure of SNAP 2016 Question Paper and the feedback received from the students.

SNAP Reading Comprehension Section

The Reading Comprehension consisted of 2 passages with six questions each. The passages  were lengthy in nature. It was around 650-700 words.

Passage 1: The first passage of reading comprehension was on the topic "The Euro crisis and different ideas about how the currency should be managed." In this passage, the question types asked were also unique. The example of some of the remarkable questions asked is given:

  1. Who could be the authors of the passage and what is the main highlight of the passage?
  2. Classifying the viewpoints of the countries.
  • Passage 2:  The second passage from this section was must attempt in this area, and there were direct questions asked. The topic of the passage was “Fuel from sewage is the future – and it's closer than you think.”

As according to the difficulty level of both the passage. Most of the students have attempted the second passage first as the questions asked in the second passage were picked up directly from the passage and were comparatively easy. Around 20-22 can be considered to be a good number of attempts in this section.

SNAP Verbal Ability Section

There were total nine questions asked in verbal ability section of General English subject. The number of questions asked for different questions type is given in this table.

The Fill in the Blanks questions had a sentence with a single blank and six words A, B, C, D, E, F were given. The candidates were provided with combinations like AD, AB, CE, BF as choices.

According to the candidates appeared in the test, the Para Formation Questions with six sentences and the sentence equivalence questions were difficult. The remaining question types can be considered as average.

SNAP Verbal Reasoning Section

There were total 17 questions asked in this section of General English subject. The number of questions for each question type is given in the table below.

According to the candidates appeared in the test, the difficulty level of the questions asked in this area was average. The questions asked in this area were neither too difficult nor too easy. The questions were of moderate difficulty level.

SNAP 2016 Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency Analysis


There were total 40 questions in the Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation and Data Sufficiency section. It was a little lengthy and comparatively trickier section. Questions were both from Arithmetic as well as Pure Maths.

The student who had spent around 35-40 minutes could have attempted around 21-23 questions. The table given below shows the number of questions asked from each topic with the difficulty level of the questions. There were two Data Interpretation sets in the exam which were calculation based and should be on the average side for most of the students.

SNAP 2016 General Awareness Analysis


There were total 30 questions asked in General Awareness section. Questions were asked from various categories which include General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Business Scenario. The topics which were asked in SNAP 2016 exam is given below

  • Sports (Davis Cup/Test cricket/English Premier League, Oscar Pistorius, Finalists in 2015 FIFA world cup, etc.)
  • Awards (Oscar for best picture, Noble Prize for Literature, Lata Mangeshkar Life Time Achievement Award, the person inducted into International Astronautics Federation, etc.)
  • Famous people (Matching people with their professions  Janet Yellen, Mario Draghi, Urijit Patel, UN Secretary General, Vice-President of the US, etc.)
  • Government Schemes/Operations (Code name of the rescue operations conducted in Sethu Bharatam, Sudan, etc.)
  • Business (Name of Google's Instant Messenger, Indian company in the top 150 R&D spenders, Company that acquired Linkedin, Company that Flipkart acquired, etc.)
  • Science & Technology (Name of the minisatellite made my the Pune engineering college students, Humanoid Robot unveiled by China, etc.)
  • International Affairs (Kigali Agreement)

According to the question paper,  the questions were moderate, and the test was not that difficult for those who had a decent knowledge about the happenings around the world. There were few questions too that could be cracked by any serious MBA candidate. Around 12-15 attempts in the section in around 15 min would have been useful for this part.

SNAP 2016 Analytical Logical Reasoning Analysis


The Analytical and Logical Reasoning section is also not holding easy questions. While there were few enough easy questions which can make the students feel confident after the exam. The difficulty level of the section could be marked at average difficulty.

Around 15-16 attempts could be considered to be a good attempt in this section. The number of questions with the mentioning of difficulty level for each question type is given in the table below.

SNAP 2016 Cut-Offs


On the basis of SNAP 2016 Exam Analysis. The cut-offs have been prepared for the different centres of the Symbiosis. The candidates can check the centre wise cut-off list in the table below

SNAP 2016 Exam Pattern


The total number of questions is 150.  The candidates can check the number of question asked from each section.  There was a change that the Reasoning section had one mark per question compared to 2 marks per question earlier. That is why the total marks to come down to 150 from 180 earlier.

SNAP Result 

SNAP Result 2018 will be declared in the first week of January 2018. The candidates who clear the SNAP Test will be shortlisted for GE-PIWAT. Symbiosis Aptitude Test (SNAP) is conducted for the students who want to take admission to any of the 14 Institute of Symbiosis International University (SIU).
