Manipal University Scholarships 2018

Manipal University Scholarships are offered to the deserving students so as to encourage meritorious students and their academic excellence. The students who are enrolled in the Manipal University are eligible to grab these scholarship opportunities as per their eligibility; These scholarships are need-based as well as merit-based. This page in detail deals with the Scholarships offered by Manipal University for its Undergraduate Degree Programs.

Manipal University Freeship

• Free Ship is offered to the students who have secured within the first 100 ranks in BTech/MBBS, BDS & BPharm merit list in the MU OET.
• 100% Free Ship are offered to the students
• In the case of MBBS, BDS & BPharm courses: freeship covers only the course fee payable for the particular course of study. The candidate will, however, be required to pay Rs. 11, 000.
• In the case of BTech Course: Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first-year course fee at the time of counselling.
  
  

MU Merit Cum Means Scholarship

• Manipal University (MU) offers Merit cum Means Scholarship is offered to the candidates admitted to MBBS course from rank 101 to 500 and BDS, BTECH & BPharm courses from rank 101 to 1000 of the respective merit list in the MU OET 2018.
• Candidates need to pay a nominal amount of 5%, of course, fees or 5% of total family income as yearly instalment, whichever is minimum
• Parent’s Annual Income: Parents’ annual income from all sources is taken into consideration to determine the scholarship amount.

Important Points for Freeship and Merit cum Means Scholarship

• Only the course fee of the particular course is covered: The free ship & Merit-cum-means Scholarship will cover only the course fee payable for the particular course of study.
• What are all the candidates required to pay for? Candidates are required to pay the appropriate first-year course fee (excluding scholarship amount), registration fee payable at the time of counselling/admission.
• Expenses not covered: This scholarship will not cover the expenses such as hostel accommodation, books, etc.
• Prize money remains same for all the years: The award of freeship & merit-cum-means scholarship for the subsequent years will be same as given at the time of admission in the first year.
• Percentage of scholarship will remain same; The percentage of scholarship amount will be constant throughout the course duration, irrespective of changes in income group
• The basis for which the scholarship will be continued: Continuation of scholarship for subsequent years will be based on academic performance of the students in the university exam as per the University rules.
  
  

AICTE Scholarship

• AICTE Scholarship is offered to the students who belong to economically backwards families. Waiver on tuition fee is offered to the students enrolled in BTech courses.
• AICTE scholarships are subject to availability and will not exceed 5% of the total intake.
• Eligibility: Only those candidates are eligible whose parental income from all sources is less than Rs 6 lakhs
• Selection: Separate merit list based on MU OET rank of the eligible candidates under this scheme is displayed on the official website.
  
  

Scholarship for Nursing Students

• Merit cum Means Scholarship is offered to the students who belong to the general category only and join BSc Nursing courses.
• It covers only the course fee payable for the particular course of study.
• The students will be required to pay the remaining first-year course fee (excluding scholarship amount) and registration fee payable at the time of counselling/admission.
• Eligibility:candidate should have secured above 80% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in class 12 board examination.
  • Parents income is also taken into consideration to select the candidates

Renewal of the Scholarship: The award of this scholarship for the subsequent years will be based on the performance of the candidate in the university examinations. Candidates have to obtain minimum aggregate 65% marks in each academic year with the pass in all subjects.

MBBS BDS Scholarship

There are two scholarship schemes Medical/Dental Scholarships for the students who are pursuing MBBS and BDS course from the Manipal University namely Freeship and Merit Cum Means Scholarship.

Freeship

Freeship scholarship for students covers the course fee of the candidates on the merit basis, but the applicant's availing freeship have to pay the Registration fee of Rs 11,000 at the time of admission. Candidates must satisfy the following two conditions to avail freeship.

• MBBS: 100% freeships are awarded to the candidates who have NEET 2017 Rank less than 1000.
• BDS: 100% Freeships are awarded to the applicants who have NEET 2017 rank lower than 5000.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship

Merit Cum Means Scholarship is provided to the applicants o the basis of the annual income of their parents but applicants have to pay the first year fee of the MBBS/BDS course wich will be thereby refunded, but applicants have to pay the minimum fee of Rs 10,000. The eligibility of the applicants NEET ranks is as follows:

• MBBS: Applicants with 1001 to 5000 NEET 2017 Ranks are eligible.
• BDS: Applicants with 5001 to 10000 NEET 2017 Ranks are eligible.

Eligible candidates should produce attested photocopy of the latest Income Tax (IT) return form for proof of parents’ income at the time of counselling/admission. The non-working parent should produce a notarized affidavit indicating that they are not employed.

ITC Scholarship

The all round best graduating students from the Bachelors Hotel Management who have excelled the operational subjects are eligible to apply for the scholarship provided by the ITC Hotel Limited. The applicants can avail the scholarship worth 3.5 lacs awarded as per their academic performances.

Teaching Assistantship

Teaching assistantships are available to meritorious students joining MTech & MSc Tech courses with a monthly remuneration of up to Rs.5000.

Scholarships for Konkani Speaking Students

Konkani speaking students of general category only are eligible for the 10% fee waiver scholarship on admission to any course in Manipal University. But applicants have to pay the full fee at the time of the admission and have to fill the application form to avail the scholarship.

Scholarship for Academy of General Education Students

Students who have studied PUC of two years fo their undergraduate courses or qualifying examination (all years/ semesters) for other courses in the AGE colleges have few seats reserved under this scholarship scheme.

Such students are eligible for the scholarships on the basis of their academic performance and the annual income of the parents. They can also avail the education loan scholarships on subsidised rates.

Scholarship for School of Information Science Students

School of Information Science students who are going to enrol in the postgraduate programmes are offered the scholarships under which their-their 50% tuition fee is waived off by the Manipal University.

• 10% students are shortlisted based on their MUOET Result.
• There must be at least 20 students in the respective programme for the scholarship.
  
  

Kadambi Scholarship

Two scholarships of Rs 30,000 each for Medical/Dental science and engineering science is given for the final year students who are good in both academics and sports.
