Delhi University Sports Quota/ ECA Admissions 2018 - Merit List
Delhi University Sports Quota/ ECA trial Schedule List 2018 has been announced by Delhi University. DU Sports trials at identified college will start from 22 June and end on 29 June 2018 wheras the preliminary trials of ECA will begin from 14 June and will end of 21 June 2018. Delhi University grants admission to the students on Sport and Extra Curricular Activites (ECA). Hence, the students who are good in sports and ECA can apply for the admission in DU. Each college of DU reserves maximum 5 per cent seats for Sports/ECA quota in all undergraduate courses. Although, the individual college has the authority to decide the actual number of seats offered under the quota. The admission in DU via sports quota is done in two ways i.e. either through direct admission or through sports trials. Likewise last year, the most number of applications in sport category has been received from football as compared to other sports. From the session year 2018-19, the colleges would get sportspersons according to the college teams' requirements. The said proposal made by the DU's sports council has been reportedly approved by the council to the admission committee. The first sports admission list will be released on 9 July 2018. - According to a report published in a leading national daily recently, only those candidates would be chosen under Delhi University Sports Quota who meet the special requirements as prescribed by the DU. As per the new rule, now a list of requirements along with the number and positions will have to be sent by the colleges.
- The candidates who have represented India in Olympics, World Cup, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games will get direct admission. Last year, more than 12,000 students applied for 2,600 seats under DU Sports Quota. Around 4,000 applications were cancelled for ineligibility.

DU Sports/ ECA Admission Latest Updates
- The result of ECA prelims has been declared.
- DU Sports/ ECA trials schedule has been released by the Delhi University. DU Sports trials at identified college will start from 22 June whereas the preliminary trials of ECA will begin from 14 June 2018.
- The highest number of applications under the ECA category is received for NCC. The interesting thing is that with only 15 colleges posting requirements for NCC cadets, the competition for admission is expected to be high.

Delhi University Admission through Sports Quota
The candidates willing to take admission in the Delhi University through sports quota can apply for the same while filling the application form for UG programme. The candidates applying through the sports quota need to select the Yes for the section “Applying for Sports Quota” and then they have to select the sports under the category they are applying for.
Selecting the Sports level
After selecting the sports, the list of the colleges which invites application for that particular sports will be shown to the candidates. Then the candidates have to select the level of sports. However, the candidates should keep in mind that the university will consider only the highest level of sports certificate for marking. The sporting route has been released by the Delhi University, the candidates can go through that also.
Delhi University Admission through ECA Quota
The candidates seeking admission to the Delhi University for the admission in UG courses can go to the section of ECA while filling the application form. There are several categories offered in the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) Quota and the candidates can select the sub-categories accordingly. The candidates applying through the ECA quota need to select the Yes for the section “Applying for ECA Quota."

Selecting the ECA Category
After selecting the ECA category, the candidates are suggested to go through the category and select the category of their choice and thereafter, they have to choose the subcategory. The candidates should carefully select the ECA category while filling up the application form.
DU Sports Quota / ECA Admission 2018 - Important Points
- The candidates should know that they will not be allowed to change the selection once the payment is made.
- The candidates have to attach a self-attested copy of Sports certificate.
- Sports/ ECA certificate of invitation/ memorial/ open/ prize money/ ranking competition will not be considered.
- The university will consider only the highest level of sports certificate for marking.
- Only the sports/ ECA certificate of preceding three years from the date of online registration will be considered.
- After going through the trials for all the seats to be offered at DU, he/she would be allotted only colleges in which that particular sport was played.
- However, with the new rule, the colleges would have the sportspersons according to the college's requirements.
- According to the existing rules, students who had applied through Sports Quota and had uploaded their certificates online would be eligible for Admission through Sports Quota.
- Applicants appearing for Sports Trial had to carry a printed copy of the online admission form and should reach the venue 30 minutes before the test.
The sport quota admissions will be based on 60% weightage to sports trials and 40% of certificates. Now there will be no qualifying "Fitness Test" for sports trials. The sports council of Delhi University has decided to have a sport specific test within the centralised sports trials instead of fitness test.

DU Sports Trial Schedule 2018 - Game Wise
Super Category: Direct Admission without Sports Trials
Sportsperson who have represented the country in the following Competition are eligible for Direct Admission in Delhi University. All candidates have to upload the self-attested copy of the “highest sports certificate“.
- Olympic Games by the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
- World Championship / World Cup by International Sports Federations (ISFs)
- Commonwealth Games by Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF)
- Asian Games by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA)
- Asian Championships by International Sports Federations (ISFs)
- South Asian Games (SAG) by South Asian Sports Council (SASC)
- Paralympic Games by International Paralympic Committee (IPC)
Admission on the basis of Sports Trials

Candidates are also offered admission in Sports Quota on the basis of fitness test followed by sports trials. The dates for preliminary and final trials will be notified on the College Website and Notice Board before the last date of Registration. The trial-based candidates have to upload their sports certificate for admission. Only those certificates that will be issued between 1 April 2014 and 31 March 2017 will be valid.
No Fitness Test before the Sports Trial by the University
Now there will be no qualifying "fitness test" for sports trials. Delhi University Sports Council has decided, instead of "fitness test" there will be a sport-specific test within the centralised sports trials. This sport-specific test will be conducted by the Committee constituted by Delhi University Sports Council and it will also video graphed.
DU Sports Trial by the Colleges
The student has to apply individually to each college for admission through Sports/ ECA Quota. Application forms are available in the college administration office itself. The candidate needs to go to the office himself/herself for the application forms. The candidate has to submit the self-attested copy of the Sports certificates along with the DU sports quota application form. The sports quota admission will be based on 60% weightage to sports trials and 40% of certificates.
According to the new admission policy, sports trials will include fundamental skills, overall playing ability, and game sport specific fitness. The Delhi University Sports Council (DUSC) will identify and allocate colleges to conduct specific trials. The candidates have to score at least 50% (38 out of 75) marks to be eligible in the final selected list.
Minimum Marks Required in DU Sports Trial
- Student need to secure minimum 38 marks in the Sports Trial
- A Video would be recorded for each of the Sports Trial
- It is mandatory for all the students to carry their sports kit along with them at the time of trials.
- It is also mandatory for all the students to bring along with them, last three years' certificates regarding their participation in their sport/game.
- # The candidates seeking admission in St. Stephen’s College under sports category needs to apply online. There are no printed forms available.
Result: The list of finally selected candidates containing, marks of the Sports Trials and Sports Certificates along with course/subject allotted shall be displayed before admitting on the College Website and Notice Board for three days to take cognizance of the grievances if any.
The Sportsperson who are selected for DU Admission through Sports Quota has to submit an Undertaking on Judicial Stamp paper of Rs. 100 at the time of admission stating that he/ she will play for the College and University, all the years, during his/her undergraduate course of Study.
Sports Trial Marks will be divided into 3 parts
- Specific Games Fitness
- Fundamental Game Skills
- Playing Ability based on the Criteria Set by Sports Authority of India.
DU Admission 2018 - Extra Curricular Activities (ECA)
The Colleges will separately notify the number of seats under ECA Quota (supernumerary). The dates for preliminary and final trials will be notified on College Website and Notice Board. The candidates are advised to keep a check on College Website and Notice Board. ECA trials will be held at two levels: Preliminary Trials and Final Trials. The candidate must have secured at least 50% marks in final trials (38 out of 75) to be eligible, while the preliminary round is qualifying.
Guidelines for admission to various undergraduate courses on the basis of Extra Curricular Activities (ECA):
- The candidates seeking admission under ECA Category have to register online on DU Admission portal.
- The candidates who are seeking the benefit of any participation/winning certificate evidence must ensure that the certificate of participation in the concerted activity is not older than three years (1 April 2015 to 31 March 2018).
- Weightage for ECA Admission: 25% to Certificates: 75% to Trials. The certificates to be considered should not be more than three years old.

The most common ECA Category which received application was NCC with 3,281 Applications followed by Dance which received 2,797 Applications.
The most number of Applications in Sports Category had been received for football which was 1557 Applications followed by Basketball, Athletics, and Volleyball. Cricket was at number 5 in terms of a number of applications and received 1087 applications.
