About TIFR GS 2018
TIFR GS 2018 is a shared entrance test which conducted for admission to graduate program in Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences. TIFR examination is conducted by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. All participating Institutes use the TIFR GS score along with other inputs as part of their admission process. Candidates are required to apply separately to each participating institution. The main objective of this shared test is to reduce the difficulties that students faced with multiple entrance tests and to reduce the duplication of effort by many institutions in conducting such examinations. The TIFR Nationwide Entrance Examination (GS-2018) for Biology is also called the Joint Graduate Entrance Examination for Biology and Interdisciplinary Life Sciences (JGEEBILS). The admission to the given courses at NCBS, Bangalore and DBS Mumbai will be granted on the basis of the scores obtained in the TIFR GS.

TIFR GS 2018 Eligibility criteria
- PhD programme: Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science. These include M.Sc. (Ag), BTech, BE, BVSc BPharma (4 yrs course), MBBS., BDS. MPharma. Students with training in Physics or Chemistry are encouraged to apply to the programmes.
- Integrated PhD/MSc by Research Programme: Bachelors in any Basic Science.
- MSc Wildlife Biology & Conservation: Indian nationals who have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline (with a minimum of 50% in core subjects), and a strong interest in wildlife research and conservation. Graduate nationals of Central, South and South East Asian countries, with similar qualifications, are also eligible to apply.
- Students who expect to complete their degrees by July 2018 are eligible to apply.

The application process of GS 2018 will be conducted through both offline & online mode. The detail of both offline & online application process is described below. Candidates should read the instructions carefully before you start filling up the online application form.
Online Application Process: Those candidates who have the facility of the internet can apply online. Such candidates should click on the following link to fill the application form.
Offline Application Process: Candidates from remote areas who do not have access to the internet may apply manually. They may send a request for an application form (without DD) along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs. 10) envelope (size 25cm x 17 cm) superscribed “GS-20..” to the following address:

Candidates make sure that following things would be ready before filling the application form:
- A scanned image file (preferably a jpg file) of candidate’s passport size photograph. Applications with personal photos or edited photos that are uploaded will be rejected.
- The details of Demand Draft such as DD number, bank, etc. or details of Credit/ Debit Card for online payment of application fee.
- Academic details from class 10 onwards.

The completed application form should be sent along with DD and two passport size photographs (one pasted on the application and one stapled to it).

Payment of Application Fee
The application fee of TIFR GS 2018 can be paid through both online and offline mode. Online candidates can pay the fee by Net banking/Debit/Credit Card and offline candidates can pay the application fee through the Demand Draft. Candidates who wish to apply online and make payment by Demand Draft may send the Demand Draft with their name, reference code and telephone number written on it. Alternately, students can make online payment by Debit/Credit Card.
- Demand Draft: The DD should be drawn on State Bank of India in favour of National Centre for Biological Science payable at Bangalore.

TIFR GS 2018 Result and Counselling
The selection of candidates is based on the written test conducted at different centres nationally. All candidates are required to appear in this written test. Those candidates who qualify this test will be sent forms for the next phase of the selection procedure. Selected candidates will be called for the interview round. The DBS conducts a single interview in Mumbai in Feb/March 2018. NCBS interviews are in two stages held over a three day period. Details about the interview procedure would be provided to candidates who are shortlisted from the entrance exam.
TIFR GS 2018 Exam pattern
The format of TIFR GS is multiple choice questions covering basics only in Physics, Chemistry, Maths, and Biology. There is no guidebook or fixed syllabus for the GS 2018 TIFR GS 2018 Entrance Test. No special knowledge or preparation is required. The timing of examination is mentioned below:

Candidates may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if timings do not clash. They need to send a separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject.
