UGC NET 2018 - National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the dates of UGC NET. UGC NET Exam 2018 is to be conducted from 9 to 23 December 2018 (two shifts per day on Saturday and Sunday). Every year, University Grants Commission - National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted to select eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Professor and award Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) at various universities and colleges across the nation. Aspirants must make sure that they fulfil the basic eligibility criteria to appear for UGC NET 2018. The UGC NET application process will begin from 1 September 2018. UGC NET 2018 Eligibility criteria
Candidates appearing for UGC NET 2018 must go through the eligibility criteria set by the authority to check whether they are eligible or not. Scroll down to read the basic UGC NET Eligibility Criteria 2018 -
Age:
- Junior Research Fellowship candidates, the upper age limit is 30 years as on 1 January 2018
- There is no upper age limit for Assistant Professor
- The relaxation for the upper age limit for OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD and women will be 5 years
- Three years relaxation will be provided to the research experience and LLM degree holders
Qualification:
- Aspirants who have completed their Master’s degree or equivalent from the university recognized by UGC can apply for UGC NET 2018. PhD candidates can also apply for the entrance test.
- Candidates must have secured at least 55% in Master’s degree, while for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates it is 50%
- Applicants appearing in the final semester of their Master’s degree can also apply
- There is a 5% relaxation for PhD degree holders in aggregate marks. Such candidates must possess a Master’s degree which should be completed by 19 September 1991.
UGC NET 2018 Application form and Admit Card
In order to appear for the computer-based entrance test, aspirants need to fill the application form of UGC NET 2018. The online UGC NET Application Form 2018 will be available from 1 September 2018, as mentioned earlier. Read the following procedure to fill UGC NET application form 2018.
Steps to fill UGC NET Application Form 2018
- Step 1: UGC NET online registration
- Step 2: Uploading of photograph and signature
- Step 3: Payment of UGC NET application fee
- Step 4: Printout of filled in UGC NET application form 2018
It must be noted that UGC NET 2018 application form will be accepted only after the payment of fees. General candidates must pay Rs. 1000, for OBC aspirants, it is Rs. 500, while that for SC/ST/PH category candidates, the application fee is Rs. 250. The prescribed application fee can be paid in online and offline mode.
UGC NET Admit Card 2018
The admit card of UGC NET 2018 will be available from the first week of November 2018. Candidates whose application form will be accepted by the authority can download the UGC NET admit card 2018 in online mode. In order to download UGC NET hall ticket, aspirants need to enter their application number, password and provided security pin. A link to download UGC NET admit card 2018 will be provided on this page. It is important to carry the hall ticket of UGC NET 2018 along with a photo identity card at the exam centre for verification purpose.
UGC NET Exam Centres 2018
The exam centres of UGC NET 2018 is the list of cities in which exam will be conducted. Details about the UGC NET exam centres 2018 such as the test code, state code, address, etc. will be mentioned on the admit card. NTA will allot UGC NET test cities on the basis of candidate's preference entered in the application form. Candidates must make sure that they reach the UGC NET 2018 test centre as per the allotted date and time along with the necessary documents. Also, one must make sure to follow the guidelines once they are inside the test centre.
UGC NET Exam Pattern 2018

UGC NET Syllabus 2018
It is important for aspirants to know UGC NET syllabus for a better understanding of paper pattern and preparation of exam. The syllabus of UGC NET2018 contains the topics from where the questions will be asked. UGC NET Paper I will include questions from reasoning ability, general awareness, language skills, comprehension and divergent thinking.
While the paper II of UGC NET 2018 will contain questions from the subjects which were chosen by aspirants as per their preferences. Economics, Psychology, Malayalam, German, Dance, Music etc. are some of the subjects from which candidates need to choose from.
UGC NET Question Papers 2018
Question papers of UGC NET 2018 will be released by the authority later. However, aspirants can use the previous years’ UGC NET question papers for practice, With the help of UGC NET question paper of previous years, candidates can prepare more accurately, manage time-management skills. On downloading these papers, candidates are advised to solve them once they are done with the syllabus. Aspirants can solve at least 3-4 papers a week to improve their preparation level. Also, after solving a paper, candidates must make sure that they analyse their answers to know their strengths and weaknesses. Now, they must start working on their weaknesses in order to qualify the test.
UGC NET Answer Key 2018
The answer key of UGC NET 2018 will contain the solutions to the questions asked in the entrance examination. Candidates can download UGC NET answer key 2018 for all question papers. With the help of answer key, aspirants can calculate their probable marks secured in UGC NET 2018. In case of any discrepancy in UGC NET answer key 2018, aspirants can challenge it by paying Rs. 1000 per question. After the re-checking of UGC NET answer key 2018, the authority will release the final solution key.
UGC NET 2018 Result and Counselling
NTA is expected to release the result of UGC NET 2018 in the last week of January 2019. Candidates can download their UGC NET result 2018 using the application number/roll number and date of birth in the login window. A link to download UGC NET 2018 result will be provided on this page. NTA will mention the roll number of candidates who have qualified in the entrance test. After one week of declaration of UGC NET result 2018, the authority will upload the marks of all aspirants secured in the entrance exam.
UGC NET Merit List 2018
The merit list of UGC NET 2018 will be published along with the result. UGC NET 2018 merit list will include the roll number of candidates that have qualified for the eligibility of Assistant Professor and award of JRF. UGC NET merit list 2018 will contain all the candidates selected regardless of their category. Two different merit list will be published, one for those who have qualified for JRF and second for those who have qualified for Assistant Professor.
UGC NET Cut off 2018
The cut off of UGC NET 2018 is the minimum marks to be secured to qualify the entrance test. Two UGC NET 2018 cut off will be released - one is the qualifying cut off and second one is subject-wise cut off. As per the rules of UGC, general category aspirants need to secure an aggregate of 40% and reserved category candidates must secure 35% aggregate in both the papers to qualify in UGC NET 2018.
UGC NET 2018 Pay Scale (as per 7th pay commission)
The pay scale of Assistant Professor has gone up with the 7th pay commission. The qualified candidates of UGC NET 2018 can also apply for lectureship as Assistant Professors in universities and colleges recognized by UGC. Candidates qualifying JRF will get a monthly stipend to pursue their PhD. The existing UGC pay scale for Assistant Professors before 7th pay commission on entry level was Rs. 47,000 and now it has been revised to around Rs. 60,000.
