About IGNOU MBA
IGNOU MBA admissions are done on the basis of OPENMAT Entrance Test held twice in a year. IGNOU offers various management programs for the years 2018-19 in first and second semester respectively for all the candidates who want to pursue MBA courses in distance mode. Scroll down for details on IGNOU MBA Admissions. About 28,000 candidates are going to appear for the OPENMAT exam going to conduct by IGNOU. The candidate should choose for registration of those management courses only which are on offer during a particular semester. IGNOU offers following management courses:

IGNOU Admission in Management programs based on OPENMAT Entrance Test held twice in a year. The OPENMAT entrance tests known as OPENMAT XLII and OPENMAT XLIII. The date of conducting both OPENMAT XLII and OPENMAT XLIII exams are given in the table below.

Maximum duration of MBA Program
The maximum duration of the MBA Programme is 8 (eight) years. However, if the candidate is not able to complete the course in Eight years he/ she will have have to fill a separate admission form (Form 3). In this case, the candidate will not have to appear in OPENMET again.
- If a student fails to successfully complete all the requirements for the award of Degree in another 8-year duration (i.e., 8+8=16 years), then s/he will have to take fresh admission by qualifying the OPENMAT entrance again and no credit transfer facility will be provided.
IGNOU MBA Eligibility criteria
Age: There is no age limitation for MBA in IGNOU.
Academic Qualification: Applicants must be graduated in any discipline with 50% marks (45% for reserved category) with 3 years managerial/supervisory/professional experience.
OR
Professional/Bachelors Degree with 50% marks in Engineering/Medicine/Chartered Accountancy (ICAI)/ Cost Accountancy (Cost and Works Accountancy) (ICAI/ ICWAI)/ ICSI Law.
- Duration of the bachelor's degree acquired by the applicant previously must be the minimum of 3 years, however, 2 years of bachelor's degree from the University recognised by UGC is also accepted in case applicant has enrolled in the year and completed their degree before 1998 to 1999.
- Degrees acquired from an ‘Off Campus’ Study Centre/ ‘Off-shore’ Campus of Central/State/ Deemed to be University/Institutions of National Importance offered through Distance mode of learning will be accepted for higher studies in IGNOU
Foreign Students: students from foreign countries living in India on a valid student visa for the minimum duration of the programme are eligible to apply for the admission to IGNOU MBA programmes.
IGNOU MBA Application form and Admit Card
The applicants seeking admissions to the IGNOU MBA programmes have to apply offline only for OPENMAT XLII and XLIII, Applicants have to fill and send the two application forms namely Form 1 and Form 2. Applicants can either purchase the prospectus and handbook from the IGNOU offices which will have a form 1 in a separate envelope or they can download the forms from the links given below.

Steps to fill OPENMAT MBA Application Form
STEP 1: The candidates have to enter their educational and basic details in the application form via blue/black ball point pen only.
STEP 2: Applicants have to affix their passport size photograph duly attested by the candidates.
STEP 3: Applicants have to fill the details accurately any ambiguity in information may lead to the termination. Applicants have to select their study centres which will be their exam centre also.
STEP 4: The candidates have to download and fill the form 2 for MBA Admissions. Applicants have to enclose the given below following documents before submission.
- Self-attested copy of certificates in support of educational qualifications.
- Self-attested copy of IGNOU’s Grade Card as proof of having registered in Management Programme after clearing Entrance test and completed certain courses.
- Experience Certificate, wherever required.
- Identity Card duly filled up
- Enclose Demand Draft for fee of programme Rs.1,500 per course
STEP 5: Applicants have to now send both the application forms enclosed in an envelope whose detailed procedure is discussed below.
Payment of OPENMET Application Fee
The applicants can pay for the OPENMAT Application form in cash at the IGNOU centre or via demand draft. In case the form has been downloaded from the website, a demand draft of Rs 1500 drawn in favour of IGNOU, payable at New Delhi has to be sent along with OPENMAT form. The prospectus will be sent to such candidates after receipt of the form along with the demand draft.
IGNOU MBA Application Submission
Applicants have to submit the application form offline only, there is no provision of submitting the application form online. Applicants have to send the Form 1 duly filled along with all the documents attached to the given below address via speed post/registered post.

Form 2 Submission: Applicants have to send the form 2 to their nearest regional offices in person or via mail along with the enclosed with copies of above-mentioned documents and Demand Draft for the fee of the programme at Rs 1,500 per course. Please ensure that you have written your name, programme code and address on the back of the demand draft.( The fee can be paid by way of Demand Draft drawn in the name of IGNOU and payable at the city where your Regional Centre is located).

The candidates have to make the payment of IGNOU MBA Fee of Rs 1500.
IGNOU MBA Fee Structure
- The course fee of Rs 1500 per course is to be paid through a Bank Draft obtained from any banks in favour of IGNOU and should be payable at the city where the candidate's Regional Centre is situated (both at the time of Admission and Re-registration).
- The candidate has to write his/her Name, Enrolment Number and address on the back of the Bank Draft to ensure proper credit to his/her fee account.
- All students including those belonging to reserved categories viz., Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, OBC and Physically Handicapped are required to pay the full fee at the time of admission to the University.
IGNOU MBA Exam pattern
OPENMAT will be the 180-minute test with 200 multiple choice questions. Applicants will be given OMR sheets where they have to encircle the right choices using a pen only.
The OPEN MAT Exam will have 4 sections with the questions distribution as follows:

Important Notes for IGNOU MBA
- Please see the instructions before filling up the application form.
- Hall Tickets will be provided to the candidates before ten days of the entrance test. In the case of non-receipt of Hall Ticket three days before the entrance test, the candidate can download hall ticket from IGNOU website.
- The OPENMAT result card will be sent to the students within 6-7 weeks from the date of the OPENMAT examination.
- Those who qualify for admission will have to apply on the Admission Form (Form 2- given in the same prospectus) to the Regional Director concerned. Such students will have a choice to take admission in any of the two subsequent semesters. Similarly, the students, who are eligible for March 2018 OPENMAT, will be eligible for seeking admission in the semester beginning in July 2018 or January 2019.

IGNOU MBA Placements
IGNOU has a Campus Placement Cell (CPC) that conducts on-campus and off-campus placement and employability enhancement activities at the headquarters and some Regional Centres. There is no guaranteed placement for the students.
