About UES Navy
Indian Navy UES (University Entry Scheme) 2019 has started inviting application for unmarried Men & Women Indian citizens for entry as Permanent Commission (PC) officers in Executive (GS) Branch and Short Service Commission (SSC) officers in Executive and Technical Branches of the Indian Navy. The submission of application opened from 30 June 2018 and will close on 30 July 2018. The application is invited for the academic session that will begin from June 2019. To Apply for UES Indian Navy Recruitment, the candidates should be in the final year (4th/5th year) of BE /BTech (from AICTE recognized University) with one of the following disciplines and should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till pre final year (till 5 semester for BE/B Tech and 7 semesters for 5 years integrated degree course)
The candidates who apply for the Indian Navy University Entry Scheme (UES) do not have to appear in any of the entrance exams and are directly recruited by Naval Commanding officers. Candidates finally selected for UES are inducted as Officers on the rank of Sub-Lieutenant
UES Navy Streams & Type of Commission
Candidates of SSC for GS (X), NA, IT and GS (Tech) will serve for 12 years, extendable to 14 years. The Extension is subject to Service requirements and performance/willingness of candidate. However, for Pilot/Observer/Tech (Submarine) the term of SSC is 14 years with no further extension. |

UES Navy Eligibility criteria
The candidates applying for UES Navy 2018 have to fulfil the following criteria:
Age: The candidates must be born between 2 July 1995 to 1 July 1998 with both the dates inclusive.
Academic Qualification:
- Candidate should be in the final year (4th/5th year) in BTech/ Integrated BTech (from AICTE recognised University) with one of the disciplines mentioned in the table given above. The candidate should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till pre final year (till 5 semesters for BE/B Tech and 7 semesters for 5 years integrated degree course):
- The candidate must have secured 60% aggregate marks in overall aggregate on completion of BE/B.Tech. The candidate fails to meet the minimum cut off percentage will not be permitted to join INA Ezhimala.
- Candidates with B.E/B.Tech in ‘Avionics’ will be eligible for Air Technical Branch only.
Non-Eligibility for Indian Navy UES
- Candidates who have failed in PABT (Pilot Aptitude Test) earlier are not eligible for Pilot entry.
- Candidates are not eligible for UES entry if they have not studied Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics at the Intermediate (10+2 level)
- Candidates having Backlog in any semester at the time of Campus Interview are not allowed to attend the interview.
- Candidates with less than 60% marks in overall aggregate till 5th semester/7th semester in case of integrated course are not permitted to appear for campus interview.

Tattoo:
- Permanent body tattoos are not permitted on any part of the body, however, certain concessions are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal communities/from tribal areas as declared by the Government of India.
- For other candidates, Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms, i.e from inside of elbow to wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand.
It is to be noted that all the candidates recommended by SSB will have to undergo medicals as per regulations.
UES Navy Application form and Admit Card
UES Navy Application form can only be filled Online by the candidates who fulfil all the above-given eligibility criteria. The application form is available from 30 July 2018 and the last date to fill the UES Navy Application Form is 31 July 2018.
The candidates may be eligible for more than one branch/cadre even if they have submitted only one application but if the candidate has submitted the Duplicate application, their candidature will be cancelled at any stage of the selection procedure.
The details of the UES Navy Application process are given below:
- Fill the application form: The candidates must enter all the required Basic and Academic Information such as Name, Educational Qualification, Parent/Guardian Name as given on the Matriculation Mark Sheet.
- Preview: The candidates must check all the information entered by them carefully before clicking on the print button. Because once the print button is selected, the candidates cannot make any kind of changes in the online application form.
- Print out: The candidates must take a printout of the application form and obtain the signature of the Principal/Dean/HoD on the declaration given at the end of the application.
Indian Navy UES Application Submission
The candidates need to take the printout of the duly filled in UES Navy Application form that has the System Generated Application Number. The copy of the application form along with the copy of class 10, 10+2 and mark sheets till the fifth semester of B.Tech is to be submitted to the Campus Selection Team of Indian Navy at the time of campus interview.
UES Navy Result and Counselling
- The eligible candidates will have to undergo Naval Campus Selection process. The Candidates qualifying the campus interview will be shortlisted for SSB interview on the basis of his/her preference for the entry, subject to meeting the eligibility criteria for particular entry.
- Candidates shortlisted during campus interview will be called for SSB interview at Bangalore/Bhopal/Coimbatore/Visakhapatnam/Kolkata between December 2018 to April 2019. Selected candidates will be informed about their selection for SSB interview on their E-mail as provided by candidates in their application form.
UES Indian Navy SSB Selection Procedure
The candidates after the campus interview and selection interview have to go through the SSB selection rounds which have two rounds. The two of the rounds are described below.
- Round 1: The test consisting of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT) will be conducted on the first day. The candidate who fails to qualify for Stage 1 will be routed back home on the same day.
- Round 2: This test will comprise of Psychological Testing, Group Task, Group Discussion and Personal interview. No compensation will be paid in case of any injury sustained as a result of tests.
The SSB will be conducted for 5 days and the successful candidates will undergo Special Medical Examination for an approximate duration of 5 days at the nearest military hospital.
Indian Navy Training (22 Weeks)
Indian Navy Training will tentatively commence in June 2019 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala. Candidates finally selected for UES, will be inducted as Officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at the INA, Ezhimala, followed by professional training in Naval Ships and Training Establishments.

- The selected candidates appointed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant will be on probation for a period of 2 years or until completion of their initial training. During which if their performance is not satisfactory they are liable to be discharged.
- The individuals who are granted PC will be entitled to the full basic pay of the Rank, while those granted SSC will be entitled to half the basic pay of the rank, for the period from the date of appointment to the date of reporting at Naval Academy. This will be applicable as a lump sum stipend at the time of joining INA, Ezhimala for training.
