About ISM Dhanbad Admission
IIT ISM Dhanbad Admissions 2018 for B.Tech in Indian Institute of Technology also called Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad into its B. Tech Programme for the academic session 2018-19 will be announced shortly. IIT ISM Dhanbad Admissions 2018 for B.Tech is based on JEE Advanced 2018, Class 12 Marks and will be done through JoSAA Counselling. IIT ISM Dhanbad offers B. Tech., Dual-degree, Integrated M. Tech., M.Sc./M.Sc. Tech, M.Tech., M.Phil., MBA and PhD in various areas.
IIT ISM Dhanbad has produced many pioneers of the mining and oil industry, including Padma Bhushan awardees. In the year 2016, ISM Dhanbad has become Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961.
IIT (ISM) offers B.Tech programmes in 13 disciplines, viz. Mining Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mining Machinery Engineering, Mineral Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Engineering Physics, 5 years dual degree programme in Computer Science and Engineering. The institute also offers five years integrated M.Tech in Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics and Mathematics & Computing.
Important: IIT ISM admits students get admission in 4 years B.Tech. Programme and Dual Degree Programme through JEE Advanced only.

ISM Dhanbad Admission Eligibility criteria
ISM Dhanbad will offer admission to candidates only on the basis of JEE Advanced. Candidate should have been declared eligible for Central Counselling by the CBSE
Age Limit: Candidate must be 17 years of age and maximum 25 years of age.
Following are some eligibility criteria that have been laid down, which is mandatorily required to be fulfilled by every candidate, aspiring to apply for JoSAA
- For IIT’s and ISM Academic Courses: If the candidate wants to appear in JoSSA 2018 for seat allotment in IIT’s and ISM then they need to qualify JEE Advanced 2018 and also fulfil the eligibility criteria regarding the performance in Class 12.
- For IIT’s and ISM Preparatory Courses: If the candidate wants to apply for academic courses at IITs and ISM then too they need qualify JEE Advanced 2018, as well as they, must also fulfil the eligibility criteria regarding the performance in Class 12.
Candidates need to fulfil any one of the two criteria for admission to ISM:
- Top 20 Percentile: In the respective Class 12 Examination, the candidate must hold a position in the list of top 20 percentile of successful candidates.
- Minimum Marks in Class 12: Candidate must have secured 75% (for GEN or OBC-NCL) or 70% (SC, ST or PWD) of aggregate marks in Class 12 or equivalent examination.
ISM Dhanbad Admission Application form and Admit Card
Candidates are required to fill the Online Choice Filling Form for IIT’s, NIT and other GFTI’s. To seek admission in ISM Dhanbad Candidates have to Register themselves for JoSAA.The entire process of making an application for counselling in various Institutes during the academic session 2018-19 has been done online. The last date for submission of JoSAA application will be in June 2018.

Note:
- The candidates belong to the most economically backwards family and whose family income is less than 1 lakh per annum will get full remission in tuition fee.
- The candidates belong to the other economically backwards family and whose family income is between 1 lakh to 5 lakh per annum will get full remission of 2/3 in tuition fee.
- The fee remission is also applicable for the candidates got admission in 2017-18 academic session onwards.
ISM Dhanbad Admission Result and Counselling
Selection to ISM Dhanbad will be based on total marks obtained in JEE Advanced 2018.The provisionally selected candidates will have to report on the specified date at the Student Activity Centre (SAC), ISM. The Acceptance fee for the seat of Rs.45,000 (GEN/OBC) and Rs. 20,000 (SC/ST/Gen-PWD) paid by the candidate will be adjusted in the total fees at the time of registration
Difference Amount to be paid
Demand Draft for Rest of the fee has to be drawn in favour of “REGISTRAR, INDIAN SCHOOL OF MINES, DHANBAD” payable at Dhanbad. The demand draft should be drawn on ISM Branch of SBI (Branch Code: 01641) towards the difference of fee to be paid at the time of registration.
Documents required to be SUBMITTED at the time of Admission:
- A Letter from JoSAA regarding the course allotment.
- The original JEE Advanced Admit Card
- One set of self-certified copies of Marks Sheets & Certificates of Class 10 & Class 12 Examinations.
- Self-certified copy of photo identity card. (Aadhar CardlYoter ID/Passport/Driving License or any other Govt. issued photo ID card Original Transfer Certificate/College or School Leaving Certificate/Migration Certificate.
- Four copies of passport size photographs as given in JEE Advanced application.
- Medical exam form as per the IIT-JEE format (Annexure 8)) signed by a Registered medical practitioner employed in a Government Hospital.
- Duly filled -in attached Student Registration Form.
- Duly filled-in Insurance Declaration Form (in duplicate).
- Duly filled-in Identity Card form. Duly filled-in Library form.
- Affidavit by the candidate and their parents/guardians duly signed before Notary (should be submitted at the time of hostel allotment to hostel warden)
- Demand draft of Rs. 30,000 in favour of Jasper Hostel, Dhanbad/ Ruby Hostel, Dhanbad (required to be submitted to the concerned hostel warden)
- Filled in form for sliding up (OPTIONALXWLL BE USED IF NEED ARISES) Proof of payment of seat acceptance fee of Rs. 45,000 or Rs. 20,000 as applicable.
IIT ISM Dhanbad Scholarships
IIT ISM Dhanbad provides scholarships to the students studying in the college, and it covers almost 40% of the student enrolled. The scholarships offered by ISM are
- IIT ISM merit-cum-means scholarship; the college provides scholarships to 25% of the enrolled students, and it includes tuition fee reimbursement in full plus a monthly financial assistance @ Rs 800 per month.
- Ten percent of the students on the role are provided with only tuition fee payment in full.
- Under the Central Sector Scholarship Scheme, ten students are provided with every year free boarding and lodging apart from grant-in-aid of Rs 45000 for the purchase of a computer.
About IIT ISM Dhanbad
- ISM Dhanbad was founded in 1926 on the pattern of Royal School of Mines, London. During the year 1967 under the UGC Act, it got the status of Deemed University.
- The financial and administrative control of the school is looked after by the Ministry Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India since 1996.
- During the budget speech in Parliament on February 28, 2015, Union Finance Minister Mr Arun Jaitley proposed to convert ISM Dhanbad into an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
- In the year 2016, ISM Dhanbad has become Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) under the Institutes of Technology Act, 1961.
