About GLC Mumbai
The Government Law College Mumbai was established in 1855 and is the oldest law college in Mumbai and one of the most distinguished law school in India. The law college is affiliated to the University of Mumbai and is run by the Government of Maharashtra. The admission in Government Law College Mumbai in the three years and five years law programme will be based on a Common Entrance Test (CET). Till last year, the admission was based on the marks secured in the qualifying exam. The law entrance would be conducted in the third week of June 2018. Courses Offered by Government Law College Mumbai
- Government Law College offers two courses
- Three Year Law Course, leading to LL.B. degree
- Five Year Law Course, leading to B. L. S. LL. B.
- The above mentioned two courses are independent of each other and are in accordance with the rules laid down by the University of Mumbai and the Bar Council of India.
- The percentage scored in the HSC/CBSE/State Board Examinations will not continue to be the criterion for admission into Government Law College, Mumbai. The course is suitable for those students who want to establish a career in the field of Law and students from all over India can apply for admission in Government Law College Maharashtra.

Government Law College Mumbai will offer admission on common entrance test, there will be no merit base admission process from this year.
GLC Mumbai Eligibility criteria
For three year Law Course
- Candidate must have obtained the Bachelor’s Degree of Mumbai University or any other equivalent recognised University in any faculty.
- Candidate must have obtained a minimum 45% marks for admission to the First Year LLB. (5% relaxation for the reserved category students)
For Five Year Law Course
- Candidate must have passed Class 12 Examination which is being conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or any other Equivalent examination.
- Candidates must have secured minimum 45% marks or any other examination for admission to the first Year of five year law course. (5% for the relaxation for the reserved categories).

Candidates have to fill the online application form to get admission in Government Law College. The application process will be started in the second week of May 2018. Important Points

GLC Mumbai Result and Counselling
Government Law College admission will be offered on the basis of Common Entrance Test. Admission of the selected candidates will be done by following the process mentioned below:
- The shortlisted candidates will have to fill the online College admission form. College admission form is available on the official website of college at glcmumbai.com.
- The shortlisted candidates who applied an online application form successfully will receive the SMS on their registered mobile number.
- The candidates have to follow the instruction given on the college website and have to take steps for admission.
- After successful submission of admission form, the candidates have to produce the original document mentioned below.
Documents required at the time of Admission:
At the time of admission physical appearance of the candidate is mandatory. Candidates have to submit the following documents at the time of admission:
- Class 12 mark sheet with a certified copy.
- Original Caste Certificate by student intending to avail benefits of the under-mentioned categories:
- Scheduled Castes.
- Scheduled Tribes.
- De-notified Tribes (V.J.) (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate).
- N. T. (B) (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate).
- N.T. (C) (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate).
- N. T. (D) (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate)
- O.B.C. (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate)
- S.B.C. (with Non-Creamy Layer Certificate)
- Passing certificate and certified copy of document indicating the date of birth
- Two recent passport size photographs.
- Interim Eligibility Certificate (In case of the candidates of other Universities)
- In the case of a student migrating from other University, provisional eligibility certificates from the Mumbai University.
- In a case of a student from a college affiliated to the Mumbai University, Transference Certificate (T.C.) from that college.
The candidates whose admission are cleared will have to make payment of the course fee using Credit Card, Debit Card, and NET Banking.

The Government Law College, Mumbai accepts MH CET Law scores and also have their own cut-off to allow the admission of the candidates in their college. The candidates should know that the cut-off marks provided are estimated based on 2016 records. The cut-off marks for the General, SC and OBC category is given in the table below.

Syllabus for both the Courses
Legal Aptitude: This subject will test the interest of candidates towards the subject of law, research aptitude and problem-solving ability. Questions will be the help of legal propositions and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be true in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the truth of these propositions and answer the questions drawing well-supported conclusions.
General Knowledge including Current Affairs: The topics such as History (Ancient, Medieval and Modern Period), Geography, Civics, General Science, Economics, Current Affairs of the past one year. The subject is to assess the knowledge of the recent happening and awareness of the world.
Logical and Analytical Reasoning:
Logical Reasoning: The subject is to test the candidates' ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It will include a wide variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, completing arguments, drawing well-supported conclusions, reasoning by analogy, applying principles or rules.
Analytical Reasoning: The subject is to measure the ability of students to understand the structure of relationship and to draw logical conclusions about the structures. It includes reasoning deductively from a set of statements and rules or principles that describe the relationship among persons, things or events.
English: Vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, analogies etc.) proficiency (idioms and phrases, one-word substitution, sentence rearrangement, fill in the blanks etc.) English usages errors (common errors)
Basic Mathematics: This section is to test the numerical ability of candidates. The mathematics question will be set from the 10th level, of various topics including Profit and Loss, Speed and Distance, Time and Work, Algebra, Average, Venn Diagram. (Basic Mathematics is only applicable for 5 years LLB course only)
- Three Year Law Course, leading to LL.B. degree: It is a 3-year full-time course divided into 6 semesters. On completion of three years course, the LL.B. degree is awarded. At the end of 2 years, if the candidate desires to take education in law but does not wish to practice as an advocate then they will be awarded LL.B. (General) Degree.

- Five Year Law Course, leading to B. L. S. LL. B: It is a 5yearsfull time course divided into 10 semesters. The first and the second Year of the five-year course is a “Pre- Law” course. At the end of the third year, students enrolled are offered Bachelor of Legal Science degree (B. L. S. Degree). On completion of five Years, the students are awarded LL.B. degree.
