UCEED 2019 - B.Design Admission at IIT Bombay, Guwahati and Jabalpur

UCEED 2019 (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) is an entrance exam conducted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay under the guidance of the UCEED Admissions Committee 2019. Students seeking B.Design Admission at IIT Bombay, Guwahati And Jabalpur can apply for the exam UCEED 2019. UCEED 2019 Online Registration starts from 9 October 2018. The last date to apply for UCEED without late fee is 9 November 2018. The registration with late fee will be available till 16 November 2018. 

UCEED Exam 2019 is scheduled to be conducted on 19 January 2019. It was for the first time in the year 2015 that IIT Bombay has introduced a Bachelor of Design programme. This a 4-year course of B. Design from the IIT Bombay. The aspirants can get admission into 4 years Bachelor of Design (B. Des.) programme through UCEED 2019 in any of the given below institutes:

There will be 105 seats subdivided on the basis of the percentage of reservation in IITB, IITG and IITDMJ. Check the total number of seats in B.Des courses in each of the College below:

Other Institutes/Colleges accepting UCEED 2019 Score

Last year qualified candidates were admitted to the B. Des programmes at IIT Bombay and IIITDM Jabalpur. Moreover, few more institutes will also admit students to their B. Des programmes through UCEED and they are:

• UPES University: UCEED Merit is also used by UPES University for admission into  Bachelors of Design (B.Des) Programme.
• IIT Guwahati will accept admission for B.Design course based on UCEED 2019 score and students need not appear in JEE Main for that.

UCEED Application Form 2019

UCEED Admit Card 2019

UCEED Admit Card 2019 will be available from 1 January 2019. Only eligible candidates for UCEED 2019 will be able to download the UCEED Admit Card 2019, whose application is complete in all aspects. UCEED Admit Card 2019 will be issued by Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and it will be available online only. Applicants will be able to download their admit card from the link which will be provided on this page.

A candidate, including a foreign national, must fulfil each and every one of the following three criteria to appear in UCEED 2019.

• Age Limit: Candidate should have been born on or after 1 October 1998, however, relaxation of 5 years is given to the students belonging to SC, ST or PwD category.
• Academic Qualification: Indian/ Foreign candidates applying for UCEED should have passed their Class 12 or equivalent examination in 2018 OR will appear in 2019. Students from any stream that is commerce, arts, science can apply for the course.

UCEED Number of attempts: Any candidate is eligible for only two consecutive attempts of the UCEED Exam. UCEED score is valid for one year, and only for admissions in the corresponding academic year.

UCEED application fees are different as per the category. The candidates belonging to the respective categories must pay their application fee accordingly. The fee has to be paid through online mode only that is Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking.

UCEED 2019 Application Fees

If an applicant has applied after the due date, then he/she will have to submit their application along with the additional late fee of Rs. 500 (+ GST) before the final due date.

IIT Bombay B.Design Fee Structure

Annual fee structure at the different IITs will be disclosed soon before the date of admissions but candidates can take the idea from the previous year fee structure of the B.Desing course.

The performance of the candidate in UCEED 2019 will make them eligible for admission to the B.Des Program in the accepting institutes as well as IITs. • UCEED Question Paper and UCEED Answer Key will be uploaded on the UCEED 2019 online portal after the exam.
• In the case of any discrepancy, same shall be addressed to uceed@iitb.ac.in, on or before last week of January 2019.

UCEED Result & Rank Lists

• UCEED 2019 Results will be declared in the third week of February 2019.
• Rank lists will be prepared based on the total marks in UCEED Exam.
• No separate category-wise rank lists will be prepared. However, cut-off marks for each category will be mentioned in the rank list.

Students admitted to the B. Des programme will not be eligible for branch change to any other undergraduate programmes offered by IIT Bombay at any time during the entire duration of the programme.

• Duration of Exam: 3 hours
• Mode of Exam: Computer-based Test.
• The medium of Exam: English
• Total Marks: 300 marks
• UCEED Question Paper will consist of 3 sections.
• The paper will be held in two sessions: 
  • Session 1: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • Session 2: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (if any) This session will be conducted only if there is some technical problem in session one. This will be a reserve session only for the candidates of the affected centres.
• No. of Sections: The question paper will consist of 3 section.
• The question paper will contain a total of 80 questions distributed among the 6 topics provided in the syllabus.
• Marking Schemes:  All 3 sections will have different marking scheme.

The Questions in the Exam will be asked on the following topics

Visualisation and Spatial Ability
Pictorial and diagrammatic questions to test, understanding of transformation and/or manipulation of 2D shapes and 3D objects and their spatial relationships, knowledge of practical and everyday mechanical and scientific concepts

Observation and Design Sensitivity
Ability to detect concealed properties in ordinary things, people, situations, and events, and thinking critically about them. Applying attention to certain details, analysing, reasoning, classifying, inferring and predicting. Ability to discern subtle differences in visual properties and aesthetic outcomes.

Environmental and Social Awareness
General awareness of environmental factors such as climate, population, water, vegetation, pollution, weather, natural resources etc., and their implications on the design of products, images, infrastructure and environment. Awareness of social and cultural connection with the design, history of the designed artefact, and socially responsible and environmentally sustainable design responses. History of art, sculpture and literature.

Analytical and Logical Reasoning
Ability to look at information, be it qualitative or quantitative in nature and discern patterns within the information. Ability to weigh opinions, arguments or solutions against appropriate criteria. Ability to check for hidden bias or hidden assumptions and whether evidence and argument support conclusions. Ability to use logic and structured thinking to deduce from a short passage, which of a number of statements is the most accurate response to a posed question. Data Interpretation, brainteasers, and patterns.

Language and Creativity

Design Thinking and Problem-Solving
Ability to use visual analogies, metaphors, signs and symbols. Ability to understand complexity, identify the problem, generate alternatives, evaluate options and select solutions.

UCEED 2019 will be conducted in the below mentioned 20 cities in India. Candidates should compulsorily choose 3 cities of their choice, in the order of preference, at the time of online registration.
