HPCET 2018- Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test

HPCET 2018 is conducted by Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU), Hamirpur for admission into its private and unaided engineering colleges. HPCET 2018 (Himachal Pradesh Common Entrance Test) online application process for all the courses will begin in the first week of March 2018 and the last date to apply will be in the last week of April 2018. Currently, the University is offering undergraduate and postgraduate programs in the following areas:

• Engineering (B.Tech & M.Tech).
• Pharmacy (B. Pharm. & M. Pharm.).
• Master of Business Administration (MBA).
• Master of Computer Applications (MCA).

Admission to the first 50% of the B.Tech seats in HPTU shall be made on the basis of merit/rank/score obtained in JEE (Main)-2018. The remaining 50% seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of HPCET-2018.

About HPTU University
The Himachal Pradesh Technical University was established in the year 2010 by an act of legislative assembly of Himachal Pradesh. This page discusses the B.tech and B.Pharmacy Courses in detail. The admission prospectus and other related details are now available. The applicants will have to attend centralised counselling that will be conducted by HPTU University.

The candidates who are appearing for their final examination of Class 12 in March/April 2018 are allowed to appear in HPCET 2018. However final selection will be subject to the following criteria:

B.Tech Academic Qualification:
Candidates who have passed Class 12 Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination from any recognized Board or University with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology and have secured at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

B.Pharm (Ayurveda) Academic Qualification:
Passed 10+2 examination from a recognised Board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as compulsory subjects with at least 45% marks (40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

B.Pharma (Pharmacy) Academic Qualification:

Passed/appeared 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognised Board or University with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the Mathematics/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subject securing at least 45% marks (40% reserved category) in the above subjects taken together.

HPCET 2018 Application process has started from 8 March 2018. The candidates can now fill up the application form through online mode. The last date to fill the HPCET Application Form is 28 April 2018. The candidates are suggested to fill and submit the form on or before the due date.

After filling up the application form, the candidates are suggested to send the scanned copy of application form (PDF) at email id - himtuadmission@gmail.com. However, the candidates can also submit the copy of the application form within a week of its generation to the following address -

HPCET Admit Card 2018

HPCET card duly signed by Controller of Examinations (COE) will be made available to candidates on the University website. The admit card will contain number, photograph of the student, address of the examination centre and examination date. Candidates can follow the given link to download the HPCET Admit card.

Candidates are required to pay the Application Processing cum Test Fee given below through the following mode:

Mode 1: e-Challan mode

Mode 2: Net banking /Credit card /Debit card

The candidates who are eligible and want to apply to appear in two tests simultaneously must select B.Tech & B.Pharma (Both) / B.Pharma Ayurveda & B.Pharma Allopathy (Both) have to pay double Entrance Examination Fee.

The admission to all courses shall be made on the basis of HPCET 2018 merit list or rank/marks obtained in the National Level Entrance Test subject to fulfilment of minimum educational qualification. HPCET Result 2018 has been declared on 28 May 2018. The merit shall be determined on the basis of aggregate marks obtained in the entrance test by the candidates.

Admission Criteria for B.Tech in HPCET

Admission to B.Tech seats in Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) will be:

• On the basis of JEE Main 2018 merit/rank/score- For 50% of the total seats.
• On the basis of the merit of HPCET 2018 – For the remaining 50% of the total seats.

In case the seats remain vacant after exhausting the merit of JEE (Main) and HPCET, the remaining seats will be filled up on the basis of merit of 10+2 examination conducted by a recognised Board or University

HPCET marks required for B.Tech Admission

The minimum/cut off marks to seek admission to B.Tech degree course on the basis of JEE Main 2018, HPCET 2018 and 10+2 shall be:

The number of seats remaining vacant after making the admission on the basis of each test/examination will be shifted and filled on the basis of next text/examination in continuous order.

• Mode of Exam: Offline (pen and pencil mode).
• Type of Questions: Objective type Questions
• Language of Question Paper: The language of all question papers will be English.
• Duration of Exam: 3 hours
• Marks Distribution: Each correct answer carries 2 marks.
• Negative Marking: 0.5 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

HPCET  Question Paper will be common for B.Tech, B. Pharmacy and B. Pharmacy (Ayurveda): Candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry &Mathematics shall be eligible for B.Tech whereas candidates attempting Physics, Chemistry & Biology/ Mathematics shall be eligible for B. Pharmacy or B. Pharmacy (Ayurveda).

Reservation of Seats in HPTU 2018

Candidate must note that the benefit of reservation is applicable only to the Himachal Bonafide candidates. The candidates belonging to other States will be treated under General Category only.

• As per State/Central Government rules candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST)  are admitted to reserved seats based on relaxed criteria.

Earlier, the admission to all seats in the first year of B.Tech degree course in affiliating colleges/institutes of H.P. Technical University, Hamirpur (H.P.) were made on the basis of merit of rank/score obtained in JEE Main conducted by C.B.S.E., New Delhi. But from 2015 onwards 50% are filled by HPCET.
