About IISER Admission
IISER Admission 2018 for BS & MS Programme will be started from 21 May 2018. IISER has been established to promote high-quality scientific education, research, and training, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The government of India has set up seven Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISER) at Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, and Berhampur. Candidates will be provided admission on the basis of JEE advanced result, KVPY and SCB. Applicants who are applying through JEE Advanced and KVPY will get direct admission. However, the candidates who will take the admission through State & Central Boards (SCB) are required to appear for IISER Aptitude Test for SCB which will be conducted on 24 June 2018 at multiple test centres across India. The duration of BS-MS Dual Degree Program at IISER is five Years and the total intake of students at all IISERs put together is 1285 students. The candidates will be admitted to IISER BS-MS programmes through three channels.
IISER admission is done via three channels
- Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY).
- Joint Entrance Examination of Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT–JEE).
- State and Central Boards Channel (SCB).
About BS-MS Dual Degree Program
BS-MS Dual Degree Program is a fully residential programme and comprises classroom learning with research which provides the student with a golden chance for multidisciplinary interactions. The five years course comprise of the following:
- Study of core courses in basic sciences.
- Dedication to specialisation in chosen science subjects
- A research project.

IISER Admission Eligibility criteria
The candidates will be given admission to the Five Year BS-MS Dual Degree program on the basis of three channels mentioned below. The applicants have to give a choice of IISER Institute while applying for the BS-MS programme. The eligibility criteria for each channel are mentioned below.
IISER KVPY Eligibility
Candidates having a valid Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) fellowship commencing from the 2018-19 academic session are eligible to apply for admissions. Additional cut-off criteria may be applicable.

IISER JEE Advanced Eligibility
- Candidates who have scored minimum 60% marks in class 12.
- Candidates who have secured a rank in the merit list of Joint Entrance Examination Advanced for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are eligible to apply.
- JEE Advanced is the second stage of Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) and only the top 2,40,000 candidates (including all categories) based on their scores in Paper 1 of JEE Main 2018 will be eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2018.

IISER State and Central Boards (SCB) Eligibility
- Candidates who have passed Class 12 with Science in 2017 or in 2018 with the marks above or equal to the cutoff percentage.
- Marks above or equal to the cut-off percentage declared by Department of Science & Technology, DST (Last year state wise cut off given below in the selection process)
- 5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layer), PD category.
- For SC/ST candidates the cut-off is 55% in Class 12
OR
- Have received an advisory note which states that the candidate is eligible for INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education based on the performance in Class 12.
- The student who fulfils the eligibility criteria in SCB category will have to appear in IISER Aptitude Test 2018 which will be conducted by Joint Admission Committee of IISER.
Details on INSPIRE Scholarship
Note: Students admitted through the KYPY scholarship basis will be eligible to avail the scholarship benefits as per the KVPY Scholarship Norms and there is also a limited number of INSPIRE Scholarships available for the candidates admitted through JEE and SCB Channels. Limited candidates will be eligible to avail this scholarship scheme where 5000 per month will be disbursed.
IISER Admission Application form and Admit Card
The candidates can apply only through ONLINE mode to get admission in Five Year BS-MS Dual Degree program offered by esteemed IISER’s. All seven IISERs such as IISER Pune, IISER Mohali, IISER Kolkata etc, admit candidates through a common application process. One application form is valid for all IISERs. The application for the admission to IISER will be begun from late May 2018. The candidates willing to get admission in IISER can fill the application form by the link given for each.
- For KVPY Stream: KVPY Application Form 2018 can be filled Online only. For getting registered for KVPY 2018, the candidates are required to fill the KVPY 2018 Application Form available. The candidates are suggested to follow the link to fill the application form. The last day to fill the application form has extended to 9 June 2018.
- For JEE Advanced Stream: The candidates can also apply through JEE Advanced by filling the JEE Advanced Application Form. The application form can be filled by following the link.
- For SCB Streams: The candidates seeking admission in IISER BS-MS programme through SCB need to fill the application form which the candidates can find on the official website.
There are 3 channels for admission into IISER and candidate can take admission through all channels provided that he meets the eligibility criteria but for admission through each channel, he/she will have to fill up a separate IISER admission form.
IISER Admission Fees
Candidates are required to pay a non-refundable application fee to secure their admission into IISER Pune, IISER Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Trivananthapuram, IISER Tirupati, IISER Brahampur and IISER Bhopal for each category. The application fee amount for each category is given in the table below. The candidates are advised to check the fee amount of their category and lay the application fee according to their category.

The fees have to be deposited by the candidates for the first semester is given below. The fee amount is different according to the category. The annual fee for the Mohali branch is Rs. 64,600 and the SC/ ST candidates are exempted from tuition fees.

IISER Admission Result and Counselling
Up to 50% of the seats at IISER are filled through KVPY & JEE Advanced Channel and remaining seats through State and Central Boards (SCB) channel based on IISER Aptitude Test.

IISER Cut-offs for SCB Category
The IISER cut-off lists for the current year i.e. 2018 has not been released yet. Therefore, the candidates are suggested to go through the previous year cut-off marks so that they will get the idea of estimated cut-off scores for the year 2018.

IISER Admission Exam pattern
IISER SCB Exam Pattern
- Medium of Question Paper: The question paper will be in English
- Type of Question Paper: The questions are multiple choice and objective type.
- Duration of exam: 180 minutes.
- IISER Marking Scheme: 3 marks are awarded for a correct response, no marks are awarded or deducted for the unanswered question and there is a negative marking of -1 for every wrong answer.
IISER Question Paper Pattern 2018
The aptitude test will have questions from Physics, Chemistry, Maths & Biology so a student with PCMB at Class 12 is at an advantage while appearing for IISER Aptitude test. 50% seats are filled through KVP/ JEE Channel and remaining seats on the basis of SCB stream.
