About JEE Main 2021

Joint Entrance Examination or JEE Main 2021 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) four times a year. The NTA JEE Main exam will be held in online mode. The registration process for IIT JEE 2021 has commenced and the last date to apply for JEE Main 2021 is 16 January 2021. NTA will be conducting JEE Main four times a year and candidates can appear in all the sessions Also the test will be held in multiple sessions, therefore, NTA has reintroduced the JEE Main normalization process. However, there are no changes in the JEE Main syllabus or exam pattern. NTA JEE Main is a qualifying exam for admission in IITs. JEE advanced is the exam which is taken by JEE Main qualified candidates for admission in IITs. JEE Advanced 2021 will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur.

The registration process of JEE Main has ended for the February session. Candidates can appear for all the sessions and the best score will be considered for admission to the JEE Main participating colleges. JEE Main admit card 2021 will be available online only to those candidates who have successfully submitted the application form. As mentioned earlier, JEE 2021 will be held in computer-based mode and there will be 90 Questions that is 60 MCQs and 30 Questions for which the answer is a numerical value. JEE Main syllabus will contain topics on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, and the questions will be similar to ones that they have studied during their Class 11 and 12 courses. NTA JEE Main 2021 - Overview

Some Important information regarding JEE Main 2021 examination is provided below

  • Name of the exam is the Joint Entrance Examination
  • Commonly known as JEE Main
  • NTA will be conducting JEE Main 2021
  • JEE Main will be a computer-based test only
  • Qualified candidates will be admitted to NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Also, it is the qualifying test for JEE Advanced
  • JEE will be held four times a year. Candidates can appear in all the sessions

As mentioned earlier, National Testing Agency will be conducting JEE Main 2021. Psychometric and Standardisation techniques will be implemented to equate both the JEE Main 2021 entrance test.

JEE Main 2021 Normalization

As mentioned earlier, NTA JEE Main will be held in various sittings. Therefore, National Testing Agency has reintroduced the normalization procedure. In JEE Main 2021, test takers will be different sets of questions and it is highly possible that the difficulty level of the test will vary for every session. Few candidates may end up with extremely difficult questions while the opposite will be for some. Thus, scores of candidates will vary as per the difficulty level of the JEE Main sessions.

Therefore, NTA has re-introduced the JEE Main normalization process to make sure that candidates are neither benefitted or face disadvantages due to the various difficulty level of the sessions. Also, the merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidate's JEE Main percentile instead of marks. Thus, the JEE Main normalization procedure will be based on percentiule score of candidates.

JEE Main Registration 2021

It is essential for candidates to go through the JEE Main 2021 login and complete the application form within the given time. While filling JEE Main registration form 2021, aspirants must make sure that the entered details are correct. In case of any error in the JEE application details, the candidature of candidates will be cancelled. Also, candidates must note that incomplete forms will be rejected.

Last year, it was mandatory for all applicants to fill in their Aadhaar details in the online JEE Main application form. A correction window is available for candidates to make corrections in the provided Aadhaar details. The JEE Main Application Correction window was available for a short time only.

JEE Main 2021 application fee will vary for candidates opting to appear in India and Abroad. Candidates can pay the JEE Main application fee via online as well as offline mode. To pay the JEE Main application fee online, candidates can opt for -

Before filling the JEE Main application form, aspirants must make sure that they fulfil the eligibility norms. JEE Main Academic Eligibility

  •  Passed Class 12: Candidates who have passed their class 12 exam or any other equivalent qualifying exam in 2017 or 2020 can apply for the entrance test
  • Appearing in Class 12: Candidates who are appearing in their Class 12 Exam or any other equivalent qualifying examination in 2021 will be considered eligible to appear in JEE Main 2021.

 Compulsory Subjects in Class 12 

 The list of following subjects are compulsory for candidates to have in their qualifying exam -

  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational Subject
  • Language

 Not Eligible for JEE Main 2021

  • Those students who have passed Class 12/Qualifying examination in 2016 or before as well as those who will appear in the same in the examination in 2020 or later on are not eligible
  • Those students who have appeared in Class 12/Equivalent Qualifying Examinations in 2016 and failed, but appeared again and passed in 2017 will be considered Non-Eligible appear in JEE Main 2021.

  • If a candidate expects the result of Class 12/ Equivalent Qualifying Examination to be declared after 15 June 2021 by the examining body, the candidate is advised not to attempt JEE Main 2021. 

Maximum Number of Attempts in JEE Main 2021

 Until last year, CBSE was conducting JEE Main, and the total number of attempts that candidates can appear is three only. However, this year, NTA has not yet released any notification regarding the number of attempts.

JEE Main 2021 Exam Pattern

The date for JEE Main 2021 has been announced by NTA, and the students can start with the JEE main 2021 preparation now. For JEE Main 2021 Preparation the students need to know the JEE main exam pattern, JEE Main Syllabus, Practise from last year's Question Papers and know the cut off for clearing the exam.

It is necessary for aspirants to go through the JEE Main 2021 exam pattern to know the structure of the question paper. Also, the JEE Main exam pattern will help to know about the marking scheme of the questions, so that candidates can avoid negative marking on wrong answers. JEE Main 2021 Paper 1 and Paper 2

NTA will be conducting JEE for both B.E. or B.Tech and B.Arch or B.Planning courses offered by the various participating institutes. JEE Main Paper 1 will be held for admission to the B.E. or B.Tech programmes while Paper 2 will be conducted for admission to the B.Arch or B.Planning courses. JEE Main Syllabus 2021

Once JEE aspirants are familiar with the exam pattern, they are advised to check the syllabus. With the help of JEE Main syllabus 2021, students will become familiar with the topics and sub-topics on which the questions will be based. The questions will be based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. However, students must note that the JEE Main 2021 syllabus will be different for Paper 1 and Paper 2. JEE Main Question Paper 2021

Every year, JEE Main provides the question papers of previous years' on its website. These question papers help candidates to become familiar with the marking scheme, number of questions, distribution of questions, difficulty level among sections, etc. Candidates can download JEE Main Question Papers and start practising them to check their preparation level as well as improve them. 

JEE Main 2021 Question Paper Language: For the first time, last year, the Gujarati language was introduced in JEE Main apart from English and Hindi. All the centres across India will contain JEE Main 2021 question booklets in Hindi and English, while centres in Gujarat, Daman and Diu, and Dadra Nagar Haveli will have papers in the Gujarati language also.

JEE Main Mock Test 2021

The JEE Main paper-based test has been scrapped, and most students don't own a laptop or computer. Thus they are stranger to a computer-based test. Keeping this in mind, MHRD will open up centres for students in various cities to practice the computer-based mock test. NTA Practise test centres will help them to understand the JEE computer-based format and also, check their preparation level.

 Also, it is expected that the JEE Main 2021 mock test will be available soon. The JEE Main Mock Test will help aspirants to know the structure of the computer based test and analyse their preparation. 

IIT JEE Preparation 2021

For the preparation of JEE Main, aspirants start it from a very beginning. However, the determination, dedication, hard work and smart work of candidates matters, no matter how early they start their IIT JEE Preparation. If considered, a majority of the engineering aspirants join coaching classes to prepare for JEE Main and Advanced. But there is a section of students, who sometimes are unable to join extra classes for JEE Main coaching, due to various reasons, like - unable to pay the high fees, have to travel far for coaching classes, etc. It is true that coaching classes give better guidance and study materials.

However,  there are students who did crack JEE Main and Advanced without taking assistance from any coaching institute. Thus, it is possible for JEE Main 2021 Preparation Without Coaching. Some of the tips that candidates can follow while preparing for JEE Main 2021 with or without joining a coaching institute are given below - 

  • Become familiar with the syllabus and distribution of questions for JEE Main 2021
  • Prepare a study plan, i.e. fix duration to complete the topics, a timetable for breaks, practice sessions, write mock test etc.
  • Access or collect all the books and study materials as per the syllabus of the Joint Entrance Exam 2021
  • After covering all the topics and sub-topics as per the syllabus, aspirants can access the question papers, sample papers and mock tests, and start solving them
  • After solving each sample or question papers, students must analyse their answers to know their strengths and weaknesses.

 JEE Main 2021 Preparation Tips

JEE Main Exam Centres 2021

The list of JEE Main 2021 exam centres will be announced soon. Every year, more than 100 JEE Main exam centres are available in India and abroad. While applying for the test, candidates must make sure that have selected the test cities as per their convenience. On the basis of the candidate's city choice, a JEE Main Exam Centre will be allotted. On the day of the test, candidates must make sure that they reach the centre as per the mentioned time along with the admit card and other required documents. Once the JEE Main exam starts, no candidate will be allowed to enter the JEE Main exam centre. 

JEE Main 2021 Admit Card

Candidates who have successfully submitted the application form within the last date will be issued JEE Main admit card online. To download JEE Main 2021 admit card, candidates are required to enter the application number, select the date of birth and provide the security pin. It must be noted that JEE Main admit card 2021 is an important document and candidates must keep the same safe until the conclusion of the admission procedure. JEE Main Answer Key 2021

After the conduct of the test, NTA will release the JEE Main answer key 2021 on its official website. Candidates are advised to download the answer key of JEE Main 2021 and start matching the keys against their answers, For every correct match, candidates can add one mark while deducting 0.25 marks for the wrong attempt. With the help of the answer key, candidates will be able to estimate their overall scores in JEE 2021. Also, in case of any error in the keys, candidates can challenge the same. JEE Main Paper 2 Answer Key will also be available soon after the conduct of the test.

JEE Main Result 2021

For the first time, the JEE Main result will consist of percentile instead of the marks. Since the test will be held in multiple sittings, therefore, each one will have their own 100 percentile scorer. The normalization procedure will be based on the percentile scored. NTA will release JEE Main result 2021 online, and it will contain the candidates' scores obtained in each subject, rank and qualifying status. JEE result 2021 will be available for all the candidates who have appeared for the test. The scorecard of JEE Main 2021 won't be available offline, and candidates are required to download the same by providing the required credentials. After the announcement of JEE Main 2021 result, a merit list will be released. 

JEE Main 2021 Merit List

 As mentioned above, a JEE Main 2021 rank list will be released soon after the announcement of the result. Rank will be allotted to candidates by their percentile obtained in JEE Main 2021. If candidates have appeared twice for JEE Main 2021, then their highest percentile will be considered for admission rounds. Details about the test taker's All India rank and Category rank will be provided on JEE Main merit cum rank list. However, it must be noted that only the All India Rank (AIR) is used for admissions through Central Seat Allocation Board to NITs / IIITs / CFTIs / SFIs /Others, while other ranks are for information purposes.

The candidates who qualify JEE Main 2021 and are declared eligible for JEE Advanced 2021 will have to register again for JEE Advanced 2021 after the declaration of the JEE Main 2021 score.

Note: For admission to IIT, It is compulsory for students to appear in both JEE Main & JEE Advanced 2021 to be eligible for admission to IITs & ISM Dhanbad.

To qualify for JEE Advanced 2021, candidates must make sure that they obtain top 20 percentile in JEE Main 2021 or obtain at least 75% marks in the qualifying exam. Also, candidates are advised to go through the JEE Advanced Qualifying Criteria, if they are preparing for JEE Advanced as well.

JEE Main Cut off 2021

Cutoff marks of JEE Main cutoff marks are the percentiles set by the various participating to shortlist candidates for admission to their engineering programmes. After considering various factors, JEE Main Cut off percentile are prepared, which are a total number of test takers, the difficulty level of the paper and the total number of seats available in the institute. The JEE Main 2021 cut off will vary with the institute and category of candidates. JEE Main 2021 Counselling

After the announcement of the result, the JEE Main counselling process will start. Candidates qualifying in JEE Main are required to apply for counselling through JoSAA. The registration process of JoSAA will commence soon after the announcement of result. JoSAA is a centralised process, held for admission to the NITs, IIITs and other Government Funded Technical Institutes. Allotment of seats will be based on candidate's eligibility, merit, preference selected, availability of seats, etc.

JEE Main 2021 Colleges

Till last year, a total of 15 states accepted the JEE system and had started allotting seats to the government-run participating institutes on the basis of JEE Main score. These states won't be conducting any engineering entrance test. After the announcement of JEE result, these participating JEE Main 2021 Colleges will release their merit list and cutoff scores. Students can also check JEE Main B.Arch Colleges that offer admission based on JEE Main Paper 2 Score.

Q. What is JEE Main 2021?

Ans. Joint Entrance Examination Main is one the most reputed engineering entrance test held for admission to the various prestigious engineering institutes like NITs and GFTIs. JEE Main also act as a qualifying exam for JEE Advanced, which is held for admission to the IITs and IISc.

Q, Who will conduct JEE Main 2021?

Ans. This year, JEE Main will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Until last year, JEE Main was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Q. Will JEE Main be the same as last year?

Ans. No, there are few changes that NTA. JEE Main will be conducted twice a year instead of once, and the test will be held in computer based mode only.

Q. What is the eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2021?

Ans. Students must have passed their Class 12 board exam after 2016 or will appear for the same from a recognized board are eligible to appear for JEE Main 2021. Also, candidates must have any of the following subjects in their Class 12 board exam - Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology/technical vocational subject, or any other subject

Q. If I've submitted more than one JEE Main Application Form, will it be rejected?

Ans. No, the form won't be rejected. However, in such situation aspirants are required to send an email to the National Testing Agency providing their JEE Main Application Number that the candidate wants to consider.

Q. I am from Assam, and I don't have an Aadhaar Card. How can I apply for JEE Main 2021?

Ans. For students from the states of Assam, Meghalaya, and Jammu and Kashmir, where Aadhaar Cards are yet to be introduced, they are required to provide details about their passport number, bank account number or any other valid photo ID issued by Government of India.

Q. I've made some errors in the JEE application form. How can I correct?

Ans. After the submission of application form, a short period will be provided to all the candidates to make limited changes to their application form. However, students won't be able to make any changes in the JEE Main registration details.

Q What is CBSE Udaan Programme

Udaan program is an initiative by CBSE to provide free engineering entrance exams preparation for girls in India.  Total 1000 girl students will be selected to attend the online tutorial classes for preparation of JEE Main & JEE Advanced for IIT including lectures and study materials.
