About BITSAT
BITSAT 2018 is conducted every year by Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani University. BITSAT is one the most competitive national entrance exams in the country for granting admissions to various Integrated First Degree Programmes of Engineering in the university. BITSAT is a Computer based online test and is the gateway for admission to first-degree engineering programmes offered by BITS Campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. This national level engineering entrance exam will be conducted in the month of May 2018 across 50 exam cities in India and Dubai.
- BITSAT 2018 is a computer-based test which will be conducted over a period of 16 days and the candidate can choose the Center, the Day and Time as per their convenience to take the test.
- Application to BITS in addition to BITSAT- In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT 2018, candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS giving details of their Class 12 marks and preferences to different degree programmes.
- It is expected that somewhere around 2 lakh candidates will be appearing for BITSAT 2018 and will compete for around 2,000 seats available in various BE (Hons.) programmes available across three BITS Pilani campuses.

BITSAT Eligibility criteria
BITSAT Eligibility for different courses is given here, and the candidates must go through all the points carefully before filling the BITSAT application form. If the candidates fill the application form and do not fulfill the eligibility, then they will be denied admission in BITS Pilani.
Academic Eligibility for BE (PCM)
- Subjects: Candidates appearing for Class 12 examination in 2018 or who have passed the class 12 examination in 2017 from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and adequate proficiency in English can apply.
- Minimum Marks: Candidate should have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% in each subject.
Academic Qualification for B. Pharm (PCB)
- Subjects: Candidates appearing for Class 12 examination in 2018 or who have passed the class 12 examination in 2017 from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with adequate proficiency in English can apply.
- Minimum Marks: Candidate should have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology subjects with a minimum of 60% in each subject.
Kindly Note: The candidates with PCM subjects may also apply for Pharmacy program
Direct Admission to Board Toppers: Students who have obtained the First Rank in any central or state level board exam in India held in the year 2018 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT 2018 score subject to fulfilling the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
Not Eligible for BITSAT Exam
- The students who have passed 12th Class in 2016 or earlier.
- The students who are already studying in BITS Pilani
BITSAT Application form and Admit Card
BITSAT application form 2018 can be now filled online. The last date to apply for BITSAT 2018 is 19 March 2018 and each applicant can only fill one application form.
- Interested candidates should register their names by applying in the prescribed application form online and pay the prescribed fees. After filling the application form, the applicants need to take the printout of the filled form for future reference.
- However, if a candidate discovers any mistake in the form submitted by them, they can apply online second time and send a letter to admission office BITS, Pilani mentioning the earlier application number, which will be cancelled. In such cases, the second application has to be accompanied by a fresh application fee.

BITSAT 2018 Admit Card
BITSAT Admit Card is available for download from 12 April 2018. The admit card is not dispatched through the post to any of the candidates so no correspondence in this regard will be entertained. BITSAT Admit Card 2018 is available on the BITS website only for those eligible candidates who have submitted their duly filled application forms ONLINE before the due date. The last date to download the admit card is 10 May 2018.
BITSAT Admit Card will contain the name, photograph, signature; the address of the test centre allotted and test date & time and all other relevant details. The Admit Card would be available around fortnight prior to the date of conduct of the test.

BITSAT Result and Counselling
BITSAT Score
- At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of a number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score.
- The candidate can also check and print his score report at the BITS website, after all, the tests are completed.
- No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year
- The candidates get the complete information on BITSAT merit list and cut-off scores.
Selection Process
- Admissions will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online Test conducted by BITS, Pilani
- The merit position of the candidate for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT 2018.
- Their eligibility for admission is subject to fulfilling the requirement of minimum marks in Class 12 examination.
Procedure for Applying for admission
In addition to applying and appearing for BITSAT 2018, candidates have to also apply for admission to BITS giving details of their Class 12 marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered.
The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programmes offered will be available at the BITS website in the month of May 2018.

BITSAT Exam pattern
The BITSAT 2018 test will be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabus for class 11 and class 12. BITSAT 2018 question paper will be in English. There will be 150 multiple choice questions, and each question has four options. Each correct answer carries 3 marks. No marks will be awarded for non-attempted questions.
- Negative Marking: There is a negative marking of 1 for every wrong answer.
- Duration: 3hours; No time limit for Individual part/section
- Flexibility: The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions
- Option to Skip a Question: While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.

The exam will be conducted in two slots each day. The first slot will be held from 9:00 am till 12:00 pm and the second slot will be held from 2:00 pm till 5:00 pm. Candidates can choose any one out of these two slots based on the availability.
What to expect in BITSAT 2018?
- If a candidate answers all the 150 questions without skipping any questions. The candidate will have the chance to attempt extra12 more questions. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics four questions from each part.
- Once the candidate has opted for extra questions, he cannot go back for correction of any of the earlier answered 150 questions.
The candidate can choose the centres from within India or Dubai. If a candidate chooses centres within India, he/she will be asked to give three preferences and will be allotted one out of these three. If a candidate chooses Dubai as a centre, he/she will not be asked for any other centre preference and will be allotted Dubai centre only.

BITSAT 2018 Computer Based Test Important Points
- The question paper has been designed in such a manner that a good student will be able to answer 150 questions in 180 minutes.
- The extra questions given provide a chance to highly meritorious candidates to score higher. But they also carry negative marking for wrong answers. So, candidates should try not to answer any questions by pure guessing as it is of no advantage but may result in a reduction in the total score.
- The questions asked in the BITSAT 2018 Exam are selected randomly from a large question bank.
- Different candidates will get different question sets.
- A committee of experts makes sure ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content, question type etc. In this matter, the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.
- Candidates are required to carry a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. If required, blank sheets for rough work will be provided.
- Calculators and logarithmic tables are not allowed in the test centers
