NEET Cut Off 2018 - Candidates who have appeared for NEET 2018 on 6 May can check their scores online. NEET 2018 Cut off Percentile Vs Marks

Candidates who will secure minimum NEET cut off percentile in the exam will be declared qualified. To pass NEET 2018, general category candidates must secure at least 50 percentile, while SC/ST/OBC aspirants it is 40 percentile. Last year, the 50 percentile was equal to 697-131 marks range and 40 was equivalent to 130-107 marks out of 720. The table below shows the last year qualifying NEET 2018 cut off percentile.

Percentile Vs Percentage - A percentile rank shows the performance of candidates in comparison to others, while percentage represents how much a candidate obtained in the test itself. On the basis of percentile secured by aspirants, the merit list will be prepared and admission will be granted as per candidate’s merit position.

NEET Cut off Percentile - Important Fact

Candidates must note that in case the number of candidates in each category did not manage to obtain the minimum NEET cut off percentile in comparison to the availability of seats. Then, the Government of India reserves the right to revise or lower the NEET 2018 cut off percentile in consultation with MCI (Medical Council of India) and DCI (Dental Council of India) for admission to MBBS and BDS courses

Types of NEET 2018 Cut off

The cut off for NEET 2018 will be used for admission to medical and dental courses offered under the following:

  • NEET cut off for 15% All India Quota seats (except Jammu & Kashmir)
  • NEET cut off for 85% State Quota seats
  • NEET cut off for Deemed University
  • NEET cut off for AFMC
  • NEET cut off for ESIC

NEET UG 2018 Cut off for 15% All India Quota

To be included in the merit list of All India Quota seats, candidates must qualify NEET by securing more than or equal to marks as preferred in NEET cut off (except for Jammu & Kashmir).

Till last year, the state Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Jammu & Kashmir did not participate in AIQ seats and candidates from these states had to fill a declaration form while filling the NEET application form. While, from the year 2018, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will contribute under central pool seats for counselling.

NEET 2018 Cut off for 85% State Quota seats

The state merit list for SC/ST/OBC for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under government and private medical colleges will be prepared by designated state authority. On the basis of marks secured in the exam, NEET cut off 2018 for 85% state quota seats will be prepared. While preparing the state merit list, the domicile of candidates will also be considered along with the cut off score.

NEET 2018 Merit List & Tie-breaking method

The merit list for AIQ will be prepared on the basis of NEET cut off scores obtained in the entrance test. NEET merit list will display the merit rank of the candidates and on the basis of this rank, admission to the undergraduate medical and dental courses will be done.

In case, the rank of two or more candidates will be equal, then the authority will follow the inter-se merit procedure as per the following.

  1. Marks secured in Biology – Aspirant with higher marks in Biology will be awarded higher rank in the merit list.
  2. Marks in Chemistry – Candidates with better marks in Chemistry section of NEET 2018 will be placed higher in the rank list.
  3. Number of incorrect answers – In case, if the tie still persists, then candidates with a lesser number of wrong attempts will be allotted higher rank in the merit list.
  4. Age – If the tie still remains, then at last, candidates elder in age will be considered. Aspirants senior in age will be given higher merit order than the younger ones.

NEET 2018 Result

The result of NEET 2018 was declared on 4 June, by the CBSE. It will be released in the form of the scorecard. To check NEET result 2018, the registration number and date of birth must be entered. It will contain the roll number, personal details, subject-wise and total marks secured, NEET All India Rank, 15% AIQ rank, percentile score. NEET cut off will be declared along with the result. The merit list of NEET for admission in a different state will be done by the respective state counselling committees. However, the merit list of All India Rank will be prepared by CBSE for counselling process which will be done by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on the basis of the same. Two separate merit list will be prepared – Overall merit list and category-wise merit list.

NEET Counselling 2018

The counselling authority, MCC under Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), New Delhi will conduct NEET counselling for 15% AIQ seats for admission to MBBS and BDS seats offered by government medical colleges across the country. Only except the state of Jammu & Kashmir, all the state contributes 15% of their medical and dental seats from government colleges for All India Quota. NEET 2018 counselling will begin tentatively from July 2018 in online mode. As per the directive of the Supreme Court, the counselling will be conducted in two rounds only. The schedule for NEET counselling by MCC and for different states will be provided as soon as it will be released.
