JEE Advanced 2018 FAQs are to clarify any doubts and queries related to JEE Advanced.  If you are amongst the top 2,20,000 candidates in JEE Main 2018, you surely qualify for JEE advanced 2018. In addition to the given FAQs, all the IIT aspirants are also advised to go through the Information Brochure Carefully before applying for JEE Advanced. Candidates who want to appear for JEE Advanced 2018 can apply online from 2 to 7 May 2018. JEE Advanced 2018 will be conducted by IIT Kanpur under the directives of the Joint Admission Board for 18 IITs and ISM Dhanbad admission in the following courses;

Question-
I have class 12 pass certificate and the marks statement as a separate document. Which document should I upload during the JEE Advanced 2018 registration?

Answer - You should upload class 12 marks statement.

Question- I have appeared in Class 12 examination in the year 2018. Am I now able to register for JEE (Advanced) 2018 without uploading Class 12 certificate?

Answer-  The candidates who have appeared in Class 12 examination in 2018 do not have to upload any document with respect to Class 12 Examination.

Question - Can I bring calculator in the examination hall?

Answer - The candidates will be provided with a virtual calculator on the screen during the examination. Hence, the candidates do not need to bring their calculators.

Question- Can I change the language of the Question Paper?

Answer- The questions will be displayed on the screen in the chosen default language. However, the candidates can also toggle between Hindi/ Engish language

Question- Writing Paper-1 and Paper-2 is compulsory in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Yes. If any candidates are absent in paper 1 or paper 2, they will be considered as absent in the JEE (Advanced) examination.

Question- What is my login id to apply for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Your login id to apply for JEE (Advanced) 2018 is your JEE (Main) roll number and the password is same used for JEE (main). Seven steps to be followed to apply Online for JEE (Advanced)

Question- Are PIO and OCI card holders eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer-  Yes. PIO and OCI card holders are eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Question- Are PIO and OCI card holders eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018 without writing JEE (MAIN)?

Answer- No. This option is available for foreign candidates only.

Question- Do I need to enter my mobile number in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Question- In which step I have to upload my certificates in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- You have to upload required certificated in step 2.

Question- In which step I can pay the registration fee in the application form for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- You can make payment of the application fee in step 3.

Question- Can I use a credit card to pay the registration fee for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- No. you can’t use a credit card to make payment. The registration fee can be paid only through net banking, debit cards and SBI challan only.

Question- Is it good to fill in the registration form for JEE (Advanced) 2018 on the last date?

Answer- Earlier submission of the application form is recommended as we know the confirmation from the banks comes only in a day.

Question- Up to which step can I pay the registration fee without late fee for registering for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer-  If you complete your step 2 by 7 May 2018, then you have to pay the normal fee.

Question- During JEE (Main) 2018 registration I have declared my category wrongly. Can I correct it during JEE (Advanced) 2018 registration?

Answer- No. Now you can’t change category declared during JEE (Main) 2018.

Question- I have appeared in JEE (Main) Paper 2. Am I eligible for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) without writing JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- No. you cannot be eligible for Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) unless you qualify in JEE (Advanced) 2018. There is no relation between JEE (Main) Paper II and AAT.  Architecture Aptitude Test (AAT) for B. Arch. Admission in IITs 

Question- How can I get reservation benefit under OBC (NCL) category in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- If the income of your guardian falls to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) of the other backwards classes (OBC), then you are eligible for the OBC (NCL) quota.

Question- I have declared my category as OBC-NCL during JEE (Main) 2018 registration. I do not have a valid NCL certification. Am I eligible to upload a certificate issued prior to 01-April 2018?

Answer- No. A valid OBC-NCL certificate as per the prescribed format issued on or after 1st April 2018 can be uploaded for getting the benefits of OBC-NCL category.

Question- I have OBC-NCL certificate issued in the format specified by a state government. Can I upload this certificate to avail myself of OBC-NCL benefits?

Answer- No. The certificate should be only in the format specified by the central government as per the prescribed format and the Caste should be on the central list for OBCs.

Question- I am not able to obtain the OBC (NCL) certificate at the time of registration. What should I do?

Answer- If you are not able to obtain the OBC (NCL) certificate in the month of April 2018, you can upload a self-declaration saying that you will do so by June 2018.

Question- I have declared my category as OBC-NCL during JEE (Main) 2018 registration. But I do not belong to Non-Creamy Layer (NCL). Can I register for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Yes, you can register by declaring that you do not belong to OBC(NCL) provided if your JEE (Main) 2018 score is above the general category cut-off. If your JEE (Main) 2018 score is below the general category cut-off you are not eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Question- I have accepted a seat through JoSAA 2017. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- If you have accepted a seat in IITs through JoSAA 2017 then you are NOT eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Question- I have taken admission in one of the IITs for preparatory course. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Yes. You are eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018 subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria.

Question- I have taken admission into one of the NITs in 2017. Am I eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Yes. IF you have taken admissions in NITs in 2017 but also satisfying all other eligibility criteria given in the information brochure, you are eligible for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2018.

Question- I am appearing in class 12 exam first time in 2018. If I do not write JEE (ADV) 2018, am I eligible for JEE (ADV) in 2019 and 2020?

Answer-  As per current rules, you can appear in 2018 and 2019, but not in 2020

Question- I am a defence service (DS) personnel. Can my child get a seat in DS category?

Answer-  DS category seats are earmarked for the children of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations. Not all defence service personnel' children are eligible for DS category seats.

Question- During the examination, can I modify my answers bubbled on ORS?

Answer- No. Since the bubbling on ORS is done using an only black ballpoint pen, the candidates cannot modify the answers once bubbled.

Question- When should I reach my examination centre to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Try to reach the examination centre at the time of reporting. It is best to advisable to familiarise yourself with the examination venue a day before to avoid the unnecessary stress on the day of the exam.

Question- If I am absent in one of the papers, will my result be declared?

Answer- No. You will be considered absent from the examination and will be disqualified to receive the result. It is compulsory to appear in both the papers.

Question- Am I required to provide fingerprints to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- Yes, an important part of the pre-exam procedure is taking a fingerprint of the index finger of the candidates. The same fingerprint will be used when you come to the seat acceptance after qualifying in the examination.

Question- What should I take care of providing fingerprints to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer- This is best done when your hands are clean and you have not used any oil/ cream.

Question- Is there any dress code prescribed to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018?

Answer-  There is no dress code prescribed to appear in JEE (Advanced) 2018 but it is advised that you do not wear unnecessary things such as rings, chains, bangles, earrings or a modern watch. A simple analogue watch is permitted so that you can have the estimate of time.
