How to prepare for NEET 2020?

NTA NEET will be held from 3 to 17 February 2020. Candidates can choose any one slot for taking the test. The medical aspirants still have 6 months to prepare for NEET 2020. Though, for the national level exam like NEET, 6 months preparation is not enough. However, below are some tips and tricks for NEET preparation for scoring good marks.
Tip 1: Mentally prepare yourself for the goal
The first and the foremost thing in the ‘to-do list’ is to set a goal/target of marks to be secured in the exam. You must remind yourselves of the set goals every day. Getting NEET cut off is not impossible when you put everything in it. Like it is said, “Take up one idea (goal). Make that one idea your life – think of it, a dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, every part of your body be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone.”
Tip 2: Make a schedule and plan it
Every day you need to make a ‘to-do list’ of topics you need to cover for preparation. Firstly, for that, you have to choose a subject for which you are going to prepare for. Thereafter, from NEET syllabus check the list of topics which comes under that particular subject.
You need to make the list of topics in terms of their difficulty level. With this, you will get to know about the topic you need to work on with more focus.
Besides this, you can also prepare the routine which must be followed strictly. Thus, it is important to plan your daily schedule, as it is said by Antoine de Saint, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Tip 3: Understanding NEET Exam Pattern
You must be well aware of NEET 2020 exam pattern. Being familiar with the paper pattern of CBSE NEET 2020 will help you understand the structure of the entrance exam. In other words, you get to know the weightage of marks each subject covers. Also, this will help you make your strategy to work on each subject. Likewise, Biology is of 360 marks, so you got an idea to work more on Botany and Zoology section. The complete overview of NEET paper pattern has been provided on the table above on this page.
Tip 4: Understanding NCERT concepts
Before referring to any other books or question papers, you must clear your concept and learn the formula from NCERT textbooks. In the interview with NEET Topper Prince Chaudhary, he said, most of the questions are conceptually based and need just need some NCERT practices. If you are taking coaching for the preparation, you should revise the work done daily.
Tip 5: Enhance the ability to solve multiple-choice questions
NEET is pen and paper based test. There will be 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). During the examination, you have to read the questions, solve it and then tick (√) on the correct answer in the NEET OMR sheet. In an exam, aspirants must keep the following points in mind.
- There will be four options available for each question and only one answer will be correct. You need to mark the correct answer carefully
- As per the official NEET exam pattern, there will be a negative marking of 1 mark for every incorrect answer. If you mark any wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted
- The best advantage of multiple-choice questions are even if you do not remember the correct response, you can get an idea from the options given for each question
Tip 6: Usage of NEET Question Papers and Mock Test
If you have a goal of being admitted to top medical and dental colleges through NEET 2020, then you must keep the previous point in mind. To enhance your speed to solve MCQs aspirants, you must try to solve as many as previous years’ NEET question papers. Several coaching centres also provide their online mock test which helps you to score good marks in NEET-UG. You can get the previous years’ NEET question papers here.
You must set the time limit and try to solve the papers within that particular time limit. Doing this regularly will help you to increase your speed in solving the multiple-choice questions. However, before this, you must be aware of complete NEET syllabus.
Tip 7: Say Bye-Bye to social media
However, you need to delete your account. Social media like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or more are important for entertainment and good knowledge. But it is important to know that it is not the only thing. You must be aware that addiction to anything is hazardous, so is social media. Spending more time on these social apps will lead to wastage of time and ruin the planned schedule.
