About UGC Merit Scholarship for Rank Holders

UGC Scholarship for University Rank Holders is offered by UGC with the help of Ministry of Human Resource and Development for the 1st and 2nd rank holders in the university to carry on their post-graduation studies. University Grants Commission has been long granting scholarships for educational purposes to the students under different heads but for promoting higher education in the country. UGC Merit Scholarship for Rank Holders Eligibility Criteria

Class/ Age Maximum 30 years
Details
  • Student must have achieved 1st or 2nd rank at the university level in the undergraduate course with a minimum of 60% marks.
  • The student must have taken admission in a regular non-professional post-graduate course.
  • The student must have studied at an affiliated university where at least 100 students have appeared in the undergraduate examination.
  • Age: The student should not be more than 30 years of age.

OR

  • Must have studied under a deemed / private University / Autonomous / Non-affiliated college where at least 25 students have appeared in the examination.
  • Students pursuing a degree course through distance learning or open university are not eligible.

UGC Merit Scholarship for Rank Holders Reward

  • Number of Scholarships: A total of 3000 scholarships will be distributed.
  • Amount of Scholarship: Scholarship of Rs. 2000 per month will be granted for a period of 2 years.
    • In an academic year scholarship would be paid for 10 months i.e. 20 months in 2 years.

The application process for the UGC Scholarship for University Rank Holders has started and the candidates who are eligible for the scholarship can fill the application form through online mode. The link to fill the form is given below. Hence, the students are suggested to follow the link in order to fill the application form. The last date to fill the form is 31 January 2018. Therefore, the application form must be submitted before the due date.

Application Form

 

  • In the personal information column, students have to fill their personal information, contact information and rank achieved in the under-graduation examination.
  • In the same section, students need to upload their scanned rank certificate.
  • In the qualification and declaration column, the student has to upload scanned undergraduate course mark sheet and joining report of post-graduation course.
  • After filling all the columns, the students can edit the form in case any error occurs and then take the printout of the online submitted application form.

Documents to be uploaded along with the online Application Form

  • Provisional Rank Certificate: Certificate issued in prescribed format by Institution from where the student has scored rank at the undergraduate level.
    • Format: Pdf, Jpeg or Jpg.
    • Size: Maximum 2 MB.
  • Graduation Mark Sheet: Scanned copy of Undergraduate mark sheet issued by the University.
    • Format: Pdf, Jpeg or Jpg.
    • Size: Maximum 2 MB.
  • Joining Report: Report in the prescribed format by the institute from where the awardee is pursuing the post-graduate course.
    • Format: Pdf, Jpeg or Jpg.
    • Size: Maximum 2 MB.

Submission of the Application Form

Before final submission of the application form, the candidates are suggested to cross-checked the details filled by them are correct in all aspect. Otherwise, the application form may get rejected. Once candidates are done with filling up the form, it is advisable to take a printout of the application form and keep it safe for future use.

  • The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of merit list prepared.
  • The scholarship will be disbursed through the institution where the awardee has taken admission for their post-graduation studies.
